Are you dog friendly?

Yes, up to 3 dogs are welcome in our allocated dog-friendly accommodation, which includes lodges, caravans and bungalows, as well as camping and touring holidays. Up to 3 dogs are allowed with glamping holidays, with the exception of certain Pods at Highlands End, which only allow 2 due to space. If you have large breeds of dogs, you must look at the accommodation photos or speak to the bookings team who can help you decide if the space is suitable.

Extra charges apply for dogs of £40.00 each per week and £30.00 per dog for short breaks in hire accommodation (half price from 1^st November to 28^th February). For touring and camping holidays, dogs are charged at £1 each per night in low season and £3 each per night in mid and high season. For glamping holidays, dogs are charged at £25 per dog per week and £15.00 per dog for short breaks.

Can I bring a gazebo?

Gazebos and shelters are permitted or not permitted at the park’s discretion and in relation to forecasted weather conditions. Please call ahead of your visit for more info.

Can I choose my pitch or accommodation?

We do not allocate pitches, all pitches are selected upon your arrival based on what is available. We cannot guarantee pitches next to each other.

If you’re in a motorhome and are worried about losing your pitch while you’re out, you can reserve it whilst you’re gone. Reserved signs are available from the park reception, a £20 refundable deposit is required. Alternatively, many guests choose to leave something of theirs on the pitch, such as chairs, steps or their own sign that clearly indicates that the pitch is taken. Any items that are left out, please ensure they are secured and will not be a hazard in windy conditions.

If you have a disability and need a pitch near to the facility blocks, we can try and reserve a pitch for you if our Bookings Team know in advance, however this is not guaranteed.

Specific holiday homes can be reserved – please let the Bookings Team know when you make your booking.

Do I need to bring bed linen?

For all Lodge, Apartment and Bungalow bookings, duvets, pillows and bed linen are provided and beds are made up for your arrival. Towels for accommodation use are provided, but please bring your own towels for swimming / beach use.

In Caravans and Glamping, duvets and pillows are provided, but bed linen is optional and available for an additional charge upon booking. If you wish you bring your own, you can.

Do you allow barbeques, fire pits, bonfires or fireworks?

Fire Pits using smokeless fuel only are allowed and this fuel is available to purchase in the park shops.

Portable camping BBQs are preferred, however if you must us a disposable one, they must be raised off the ground or holiday accommodation decking using bricks / slabs, which are available on the Parks and safely located in accordance with any instructions we give you.

The use of fireworks and lanterns on the Parks is strictly forbidden. We do not allow any bonfires or generators on the parks, due to the fire risk and noise disturbance for other guests.

Do you offer early check in or late check outs?

Please note we do not allow early check ins or late departures on any Holiday Accommodation. The check in times are rigid to allow cleaning of the accommodation and maintenance of the pitches between guests.

If your accommodation is ready before the allocated check in time, we will contact you.

Late check outs are available on Touring & Camping bookings, during low and mid-season only (subject to availability), excluding bank holidays. This can only be booked the day before departure over the phone or in person at the Park Reception. This extends the check out time from 11am to 1pm and a £15.00 charge applies.

Is there wifi on the park?

Wifi is available and chargeable on all of our Holiday Parks. In Lodges at Highlands End and Golden Cap Holiday Parks and in Apartments and Bungalows at Highlands End, wifi is complimentary and can be used on up to 6 devices.

In other accommodation, wifi is chargeable and can be used on up to 2 devices. To purchase wifi, please select the network on your device, then payment can be made by Paypal or debit card.

Our wifi is very restricted due to our rural location and is not for streaming. The service may not be the same as you are used to at home. This service is only refundable for any full day on which the Park’s wifi service is not accessible by any users on the Park.

What are the season dates for touring and camping?

Our season dates vary each year. Go to make a booking to check availability or visit our Opening Dates page to find the most up-to-date information.

What deposit do I need to pay to make a booking?

A deposit of £40 per week, secures a touring or camping holiday, £100 per week for glamping holidays and £100 per week for self-catering holidays. If a booking is made 10 weeks or less before the arrival date, then the full payment is required at the time of booking, except if it is either a booking that is under £100 (full payment required at the time of booking) or it is a camping booking (full payment required if 28 days or less until the arrival date).

What time can I check in?

Check in for touring and camping bookings is from 1pm, with departure by 11am.

Check in for self-catering and glamping bookings is from 4pm, with departure by 10am. Please note there are no waiting areas, so please do not arrive before the scheduled arrival times.

Are Lyme Regis car parks open?

There is plenty of pay and display car parking in Lyme Regis, but we recommend arriving early as it can get busy, especially in the summer months. Car parks are well signposted.

Are dogs allowed at the Fleet Lagoon?

Yes, dogs are allowed at the Fleet Lagoon, though owners are kindly reminded to keep them on a lead or under close control. Dogs are not allowed on the intertidal areas where birds come to rest and feed.

Are dogs allowed on Charmouth Beach?

Dogs are allowed to run around on East Beach all year round, whereas, on West Beach, dogs are restricted. Dogs are allowed on West Beach off lead from the 1^st of October to the 30^th of April, however, they are not permitted on the beach at any other time of year.

Are generators allowed?

No sorry, we do not allow any generators on the park, due to the fire risk and noise disturbance for other guests

Are there launderette facilities on the park?

Graston Copse, Larkfield and Sandyholme Holiday parks have a laundry with coin operated washing machines and tumble dryers.

At Highlands End and Golden Cap, the laundries contain contactless washing machines and tumble driers that can be paid for using a debit/credit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.

The apartments at Highlands End have use of a shared washing machine and the lodges at Highlands End and Golden Cap have washing machines, with the exception of the 1 bedroom lodges.

Ironing facilities can be found at Highlands End, Golden Cap and Graston Copse only.

Are there toilets at Charmouth Beach?

Yes, there are toilets available at Charmouth Beach. These toilets are attached to the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre building, however, if you wish to gain access to the disabled toilet, you must ask the office for the key.

Are towels included?

Towels are included with lodge, apartment and bungalow bookings. These are for use in the accommodation and cannot be used at Highlands End Leisure Club or taken off park to the beach.

Are your parks dog friendly?

Yes, all of our Holiday Parks are dog-friendly. You are permitted to bring up to 3 dogs with you on holiday, though some accommodation has restrictions. Dogs that are specified under the Dangerous Dog Act of 1991, are not permitted on the parks.

Can I add extra guests to my booking?

With self-catering bookings, you can add more guests to your booking, as long as the maximum capacity of the accommodation is not exceeded. For touring and camping bookings, the price is based on 2 people, but extra adults and children can be added for a small charge. Please note no changes can be made to bookings less than 21 days before arrival and amendments before this date are charged at £25 each time. Contact 01308 426940 to make an amendment.

Can I book my next holiday before I leave?

Yes, you can book another holiday at any time while on park. The easiest way to book is online on our website, or via the WDLH App.

Can I charge my electric vehicle?

We have 33 EV chargers across 5 holiday parks, which are available for customer use on a first come, first served basis. Our Electric Vehicle page has more information about charger locations and speeds – https://wdlh.co.uk/electric-vehicle-charging/. Charging vehicles from your Holiday Home is not permitted.

Can I choose my own holiday home with a manufacturer for a vacant pitch?

Yes, we have a range of vacant pitches of different sizes across the 6 Parks. There are a number of Holiday Homes that would be suitable for each pitch and you can work with a Caravan or Lodge manufacturer to choose your own bespoke Holiday Home and decking.

Can I extend my holiday?

Yes, you can extend your holiday at any time if the dates are available. If you would like to extend before you arrive, call 01308 426940 and if you are already on park, visit the Park Reception where they will be happy to help. All extensions are subject to availability and payment of the additional cost.

Can I fly a drone?

Other than members of the West Dorset Leisure Holidays team, the use of drones on our parks is not permitted, due to the park being private land.

If you wish to fly in the local area, please fly off the park and ensure you follow the drone code by staying the required distance away from other people, vehicles and buildings (50 metres for drones over 250grams heavy and 5 metres for drones under 250 grams heavy.

Can I freeze ice packs?

At each park, there is a freezer available for ice packs. The lodges, caravans, apartments, bungalows, Jurassic escape pods, safari tents, gold pods and silver pods all have a freezer inside.

Can I get takeaways delivered to the park?

Yes, you can get takeaways delivered to the park, however we ask that you meet them at the park entrance.

Can I have a decking on my Holiday Home?

Yes, the Holiday Home Sales Team have contact details for preferred suppliers who will work with you and the park. The size of the decking and whether it is a side deck or a wraparound deck will depend on the pitch and will be discussed at the point of sale. We do not permit Holiday Home Owners to construct their own deckings.

Can I have post delivered to the park?

We cannot facilitate this. If post is delivered as a matter of course, this would indicate that the Holiday Home is being used as your main place of residence.

Can I hire a highchair?

Highchairs are available to hire for lodge, apartment, bungalow and caravan bookings. These must be booked in advance, they are subject to availability and there is a charge of £20. Space is limited in glamping accommodation, please contact the bookings team on 01308 426940.

Can I hire a travel cot?

Cots are available to hire for lodge, apartment, bungalow and caravan bookings. These must be booked in advance, linen / bedding is not provided, they are subject to availability and there is a charge of £20. Cots measure 38″ x 26″. Space is limited in glamping accommodation, please contact the bookings team on 01308 426940.

Can I live in my Holiday Home?

All Holiday Homes are designed for occasional holiday occupation and not for use as permanent residences. Both our Local Authority Site Licence and the Holiday Home Pitch Licence Agreements state that Holiday Homes cannot be used as a permanent residence. We require a council tax bill to be submitted annually as proof you have a main residence.

Can I make amendments to my booking?

Amendments can only be made by the person that made the booking.

Any date changes are subject to availability, and an admin fee of £25 must be paid at the time the amendment is made.

Can I order gifts for check-in?

Currently we do not offer gifts like flowers or prosecco to be available in your accommodation for arrival, but please call 01308 426947 to discuss options.

Can I park my car next to my Holiday Home?

On the majority of pitches, there is space for 1 car to be parked next to the Holiday Home, either on the grass or a parking bay. Vans, commercial vehicles, motorhomes and boats are not permitted to be parked between Holiday Homes. At Graston Copse and Sandyholme Holiday Parks, cars have to be parked in the car parks provided and not next to the Holiday Homes. At Highlands End Holiday Park during wet weather, we ask you park your cars in the car parks or speak to a member of the maintenance team about alternative parking.

Can I pay my balance in installments?

You can pay your holiday in instalments as long as the full balance is paid by the balance due date, which is 10 weeks before the arrival date.

Can I reserve my motorhome pitch while I’m out?

Yes, you can reserve your pitch while you’re out. Reserved signs are available from the park reception, a £20 refundable deposit is required. Can I ride a bike or a scooter?

The Highway code applies on all the roads on our parks, so the park speed limit of 10mph must be followed, and helmets must be worn at all times when appropriate.

Can I run a business from my Holiday Home?

No as this would not be consistent with holiday use. However, if you wanted to keep in touch with work or business while you are on holiday then that is acceptable.

Can I shower my dog?

At Highlands End Holiday Park there is a dog shower, which is located outside the toilet and shower block on the west facing side of the park. See the Park Map for more info.

Can I smoke or vape?

It is illegal to smoke or use e-cigarettes inside enclosed public buildings. You must also refrain from smoking or using e-cigarettes in any accommodation, though we cannot guarantee that any accommodation has always been smoke-free.

If you are found to be smoking in public buildings or holiday accommodation, you may be charged a £100.00 cleaning fee and asked to leave immediately. No refund for your holiday will be issued.

Can I stay over Christmas and New Year

Lodges and apartments at Highlands End and the lodges at Golden Cap are open all year round (with the exception of the 2 bedroom lodge).For touring & motorhomes, the gravel and hard-base pitches at Highlands End and the hard-base pitches at Golden Cap are open all year round, including over Christmas and New Year.

Can I sub-let / rent out my Holiday Home?

No, your Holiday Home may only be used for holidays by you, your family and friends. The Purchase Agreement and Licence Agreement record that the hiring out of a Holiday Home is not permitted.

Can I take my boat on the Fleet Lagoon?

There is no public slipping on the Fleet Lagoon. All boats and dinghies must be registered in advance with CBFNR or Ferry Bridge Marine Services. Motorised craft are not permitted past the Narrows (Army Bridging Camp).

Can I transfer a Holiday Home from another park?

Yes, if your holiday home is under 5 years old, it is possible to relocate to some of our Parks, subject to a suitable pitch being vacant.

We welcome transfers at Golden Cap, Graston Copse, Larkfield and Sandyholme Holiday Parks and our Team will be happy to discuss which pitches are available.

There is a transfer fee of £6,000 +VAT.

You are to arrange transport of your holiday home, which we can suggest companies for, as well as the dismantle and refit of your decking. Alternatively, you may wish to consider a new decking, which we can provide a quote for.

Once your holiday home has been transported to the Park, our Team can get you connected and ready to enjoy holidays within 2-4 weeks. Please note, we are only able to accept transfers of caravan holiday homes, as we do not keep lodge pitches vacant.

Can I work locally and my children go to local schools?

No. Commuting to work or go to school from the park would be taken as strongly indicating the Holiday Home is being used as your main residence.

Can anybody use the facilities at Highlands End?

Yes, Holiday Home Owners at all our parks have access to the facilities at Highlands End. Small charges do apply to use some facilities, including Highlands End Leisure Club, The Little Fire Station Soft Play and Dorset Foot Golf.

Heavily discounted memberships or entry fees are available at Highlands End Leisure Club for Holiday Home Owners, as well as a 10% discount code for Dorset Foot Golf and all Holiday Home Owners have a loyalty card for Martin’s Bar & Restaurant giving 10% off food and drink.

Can anyone use the facilities at Highlands End Holiday Park?

Holidaymakers at any of our Parks are welcome to use the facilities at Highlands End Holiday Park. Entry charges apply for Highlands End Leisure Club (unless staying in a lodge, deluxe caravan, bungalow or apartment), the Little Fire Station Soft Play and the Dorset Foot Golf Course. These facilities are also open to local residents (memberships required for Highlands End Leisure Club).

Can our friends visit us while we are on holiday?

Friends and family are welcome to visit you on the park during the day. Please let the Park Reception team know and a vehicle registration plate may be required to gain access to the park. Any overnight stays are chargeable and need to be booked.

Can we make a group booking?

Group bookings are welcome. We think that group bookings work particularly well in apartments or glamping accommodation. Specific lodges and caravans can also be booked next to each other for those on holiday in groups. For touring and camping bookings, we cannot guarantee that you will be next to each other as pitches are selected on arrival.

All bookings need to be in individual names, addresses, postcodes, mobiles and email addresses.

Can you BBQ on West Bay beach?

No, you cannot have a barbecue on West Bay Beach. BBQ’s are not permitted on any Bridport Town Council managed land. This includes public parks, gardens, beaches, allotments and woodlands.

This decision has been made to protect the local environment from the threat of wildflower and reduce hazardous litter, which could pose a danger to people and wildlife. We kindly ask visitors to respect these rules when visiting West Bay beach.

Can you fish the Fleet Lagoon?

Rod and line fishing is permitted from the shore, but only next to Ferry Bridge and up to the Narrows. Angling is not permitted west of the Narrows (after the Army Bridging Camp). The Fleet Lagoon serves as an important bass nursery. Consequently, catching bass is formally discouraged.

Fishing from a watercraft is not permitted.

Can you kayak in the Fleet Lagoon?

Kayaking is permitted in the Fleet Lagoon, but only at the eastern end from Ferry Bridge to Langton Herring. Kayaking or canoeing is not permitted past Mid Fleet.

The Fleet is best suited to experienced paddlers who have an excellent understanding of the tides. A buoyancy aid should be worn at all times.

Can you paddleboard in Fleet Lagoon?

Paddleboarding is allowed in the Fleet Lagoon, but only from Ferry Bridge to Mid Fleet near Langton Herring. No watercraft are permitted beyond this point and it is an offence to enter any areas where there are restrictions in place to prevent the disturbance of wildlife.

The Fleet is best suited to experienced paddleboarders who have knowledge of the local tides. Extra care should be taken in the waters next to Ferry Bridge and a buoyancy aid should be worn at all times.

Can you surf at West Bay?

West Bay is not considered a surfing beach. It is sometimes possible to surf here in the right conditions, but these are rare.

The waters off of West Bay are better suited to watersports such as kayaking and stand up paddleboarding.

Can you swim at West Bay?

Yes, you can swim at West Bay – West Bay is a fantastic destination for a family day out at the beach.

If you plan on taking a dip we highly recommend heading to East Beach (east of the harbour). This beach is manned by RNLI Lifeguards during the peak season.

Always swim between the red and yellow flags. This is the area of the beach that the lifeguard deem safe for swimming. The knowledgable team re evaluate this throughout the day and may change the position based on the current weather conditions and sea state.

If you decide to swim at West Bay’s other beaches always consult the weather and proceed with caution. Remember the motto – if in doubt, don’t go out!

Can you swim in Lyme Regis beach?

Yes, Lyme Regis is a wonderful place to enjoy a dip in the sea. We highly recommend heading to Front Beach, also known as Town Beach if you plan on entering the water. There is lifeguard service here during the summer months and the safe swimming areas are designated by the red and yellow flags.

Can you swim in the Fleet Lagoon?

Swimming is widely discouraged in the Fleet Lagoon due to the strong and unpredictable tides. Water activities are only permitted in the East Fleet and Mid Fleet areas of the lagoon (Ferry Bridge to Langton Herring).

We recommend heading to a lifeguarded beach instead.

Can you take fossils from Charmouth beach?

Yes, you can take fossils home that you find at Charmouth Beach – but if you find a dinosaur skeleton, it’s probably worth telling someone first!

Can you walk from Bridport to West Bay?

Yes, you can walk from Bridport to West Bay. It takes approximately 30-40 minutes at a leisurely pace.

There are a variety of routes you can take. Our favourite is along the old railway line. This popular walking and cycling route is level for the duration of the walk and is suitable for pushchairs.

You can join the cycle and footpath at the Crown roundabout.

Can you walk from Charmouth to Lyme Regis?

Yes, it is possible to walk from Charmouth to Lyme Regis. The circular walk follows the South West Coast Path and is a little over 5 miles.

There is a slight inland diversion, to account for a landslide on the original route. Along the way you’ll pass through scenic woodland and enjoy far-reaching clifftop views. On the way back you can walk along the beach and search for fossils as you go.

Can you walk from West Bay to Charmouth?

Yes, you can walk from West Bay to Charmouth. The route follows part of the South West Coast Path and is approximately 8 miles long. The walk is fairly arduous with some steep hills to contend with, including Golden Cap – the tallest peak on the South Coast. You’ll be treated to some magnificent views along the Jurassic Coast and out to sea. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife as you walk!

Can you walk from West Bay to Golden Cap?

Yes, it is possible to walk from West Bay to Golden Cap. The route is approximately 4 miles and follows the famed South West Coast Path.

The walk is suitable for families with older children and is moderately challenging, with two very steep hills to contend with. A good level of fitness and mobility is required.

You’ll be treated to magnificent views along the Jurassic Coast for the duration of the walk. First you’ll scale Thorncombe Beacon, before tackling Golden Cap – the highest peak on the South Coast. From the elevated position you can see the Isle of Portland and Dartmoor in the distance on a clear day.

Along the way you’ll pass Highlands End Holiday Park and Golden Cap Holiday Park and experience a variety of scenery, including woodland and farmland. The walk from West Bay to Golden Cap is spectacular in the Spring when the forest is carpeted in bluebells.

The route is not suitable for pushchairs.

Can you walk from West Bay to Seatown?

Yes, there’s a lovely walk from West Bay to Seatown. The route follows the South West Coast Path and offers beautiful clifftop views along the Jurassic Coast and out to sea. Along the way there’s a steep climb up Thorncombe Beacon. It’s a little over 3 miles long and should take a couple of hours, depending on walking speed.

You can turn the walk into a circular route if you want to make a day of it, or you can take the x53 Jurassic Coaster bus if you’d prefer to rest your legs!

Do I get a booking confirmation?

Yes a booking confirmation will be sent by email shortly after booking. Please allow up to 24 hours for this to arrive and check your junk inbox if you have not received it. If you still have not received it, call 01308 426940. Always check your booking confirmation. We are unable to accept responsibility for any misunderstandings or errors arising. Your confirmation is our understanding of your booking.

Do I have to pay extra for gas and electric?

No, there are no additional costs for gas and electric as all gas and electric fees are included with all holidays.

Do I have to pay for showers?

No, at West Dorset Leisure Holidays the toilet and shower blocks are free to use – which includes the use of hairdryers.

Do I need a Ramtech alarm?

Ramtech is an alarm monitoring system that lets you relax and enjoy your time, safe in the knowledge that whether you’re on the park or not, your Holiday Home is protected by a discreet intruder alarm system that links directly to the Holiday Park’s wardens and team members.

A Ramtech alarm system is compulsory at Highlands End, Golden Cap, Graston Copse and Larkfield and is included with all new Holiday Homes. The annual service charge is included as part of the Pitch Fee.

Do I need insurance?

You are required to ensure that you have comprehensive (new-for-old) insurance for your Holiday Home at all times. We have a preferred insurer (Compass) and manage a company scheme. If you opt against joining this scheme, we will require a copy of your insurance certificate. In 2024, premiums ranged from £250 to £450 a year.

Do I need insurance?

We strongly recommend that you take advantage of insurance to cover your booking. A leaflet will be enclosed with your confirmation booking.

No, there is no need to book a swim session. Just visit the Leisure Club Reception and pay or present your pass upon arrival. It is always worth checking the timetable prior to visiting. This can be found here.

Yes, we have a number of Seasonal pitches for Touring Caravans (or motorhomes) available at Sandyholme Holiday Park in Owermoigne. These are perfect if you like to visit Dorset often or don’t have much space on your drive at home.

Our Parks have different pitch sizes and can accommodate different lengths of vehicles.

Highlands End:

You must notify us of the size of your vehicle at the time of booking.

Do you have recycling bins on the park?

Reuse and recycling bays are located on each park and are clearly signed. There are separate bins for mixed recycling, general refuse, glass and cardboard. Please help us reach our target of recycling over 50% of our waste. A full list of what can be recycled is provided at every refuse and recycling bay.

Do you offer finance?

Finance is now an available option when purchasing a holiday home with us and is offered through Gavin Dixon Finance Solutions. Speak to our Sales Team for more information.

Do you offer short breaks?

Roughly half of our accommodation has arrival days of a Friday or Monday and the other half on a Saturday. Only the Friday and Monday accommodation allows short breaks of 3 nights from a Friday or 4 nights from a Monday.

All Glamping has Friday and Monday arrival days so allows short breaks. Bronze Pods at Highlands End allow shorter than 3 night breaks, but this cannot be booked online – call 01308 426947.

For Touring and Camping pitch bookings, there is a minimum of 2 nights in low and mid-season and 3 nights in high season, which can commence on any day of the week.

Do you permit supermarket deliveries?

Yes of course! Please arrange to meet the vehicle at the Park entrance / Reception. At Highlands End and Golden Cap we sell a good selection of essentials at the Spar Shop.

Do you provide for guests with accessibility needs?

Does my Holiday Home come with a warranty?

Does the Bar & Restaurant show sport?

Yes, TNT Sport (formerly BT Sport) is shown at Martin’s Bar & Restaurant at Highlands End Holiday Park. Please note this is subject to change and can be removed at any time.

Does the Leisure Club have lockers?

Yes, the Highlands End Leisure Club has lockers poolside, which are free for guests to use.

Does the accommodation have outdoor seating?

The lodges and caravans all have a picnic bench on the decking (excluding Eype Beach). The bungalows also have a picnic bench on the decking and the apartments have seating in the shared garden and on the private balconies for the upstairs 2-bedroom apartments. The seating for glamping accommodation varies, with pods having picnic benches, safari tents having wooden seats, while the bell tent at Sandyholme Holiday Park does not have outdoor seating.

Does the park have a Bar & Restaurant?

Highlands End is the only one of our parks with a Bar & Restaurant, which is open daily February to November and is dog friendly. Takeaway food or sit-down meals are available here. Martin’s Bar & Restaurant is a 10 minute drive, or 1-2 hour walk from Graston Copse and Golden Cap Holiday Parks.

Has Bridport got a beach?

No, there is not a beach in Bridport. The closest beach is in the fishing village of West Bay, which is situated around a mile away. You can easily walk from Bridport to West Bay.

Has Lyme Regis got a train station?

No, there isn’t a train station in Lyme Regis. The nearest train station is in Axminster, around 6 miles away.

How are electricity and LPG gas charged?

You will be invoiced every November for your electricity and gas usage, taken from your meter readings.

How do I close my Holiday Home up for the winter?

Our Maintenance Team undertakes the drain down and turn-on of your Caravan Holiday Home. This is a service included within your Pitch Fee. This service is carried out when the park closes for the winter period and when it opens again the following year. For details of how to “winterise” your Holiday Home, please speak to the park receptions. Ensuring the antifreeze is topped up, can prevent damage in Caravan and Lodge Holiday Homes.

How far is Bridport from Beaminster?

It takes approximately 20 minutes to drive from Bridport to Beaminster, depending on traffic.

How far is Bridport from Chesil Beach?

Bridport is situated 1 mile from West Bay, where you’ll find the western end of Chesil Beach. Chesil Beach is 18 miles long and extends to Portland to the east.

How far is Bridport from London?

It takes approximately 3 hours to drive to Bridport from London, making West Dorset the perfect place to enjoy a long weekend or extended break. How far is Bridport from Weymouth?

Bridport is 20 miles from Weymouth. We highly recommend visiting Weymouth for a day trip during your stay at one of the West Dorset Leisure Holidays Parks.

By car – the drive from Bridport to Weymouth takes approximately 40 minutes, depending on traffic. We highly recommend taking the scenic Jurassic Coast Road (B3157), which boasts spectacular views over Chesil Beach, the Fleet Lagoon and the Isle of Portland as you drive. There are sea views for much of the journey and you’ll pas through picturesque villages such as Burton Bradstock, West Bexington and Abbotsbury as you head in land.

By bus – it is possible to travel from Bridport to Weymouth on public transport. The Jurassic Coaster Bus follows the Jurassic Coast Road and takes approximately 1 hour 20 minutes. The x51 or x53 services uses double decker buses, which means you’ll be able to take in the scenery without having to concentrate on driving. From the elevated position you can enjoy uninterrupted views of the Dorset coast and countryside.

How far is Bridport from the sea?

Bridport is situated just 1 mile from the sea. The nearest beach can be found at West Bay – a small fishing village with 3 beaches to choose from.

The main beach at West Bay is a mix of sand and shingle and popular with families. It is patrolled by lifeguards during the summer season and dog friendly for part of the year.

There is plenty of pay and display parking available at West Bay, or you can enjoy a scenic walk from Bridport town centre. West Bay is within walking distance of Highlands End Holiday Park.

How far is Lyme Regis from London?

It takes around 3.5 hours to drive from London to Lyme Regis, depending on traffic. The route is fairly straightforward – you’ll follow the M4 and M3 for much of the way.

How far is Lyme Regis from Weymouth?

Lyme Regis is situated 28 miles from Weymouth. It takes just under an hour to drive the route, depending on traffic. If you’d prefer to use public transport you can jump on the X53 Jurassic Coaster. The double decker bus offers magnificent views along the scenic coast road as you travel.

How far is it from Bridport to Dorchester?

Dorchester is situated 15 miles from Bridport. If you are travelling from the north it is highly likely that you’ll pass through Dorchester on your way to one of West Dorset Leisure Holidays parks.

By car – it takes approximately 25 minutes to drive from Bridport to Dorchester, depending on traffic. The most direct is via the A35.

By bus – the route between Bridport and Dorchester is well served by public transport. It takes around 50 minutes to make the journey on the X51 Jurassic Coaster bus. You can also catch the C1, C2 or X53 service, however they take much longer (between 1 and 2 hours).

How far is it from West Bay to Durdle Door?

Durdle Door is 29 miles from West Bay. The journey takes around 45 minutes by car, depending on traffic. It can take longer in the school holidays when there are an increased number of cars on the road. As you approach Durdle Door the roads narrow and wind through pretty villages. Care should be taken to drive slowly through these residential areas.

There is pay and display car parking available just a short walk from Durdle Door beach. You can also park at neighbouring Lulworth Cove.

Durdle Door gets very busy, especially in the summer months. We highly recommend arriving early to beat the crowds.

How far is it from West Bay to Lyme Regis?

Lyme Regis is 11 miles from West Bay. It takes just over 20 minutes to make the journey by car, depending on traffic. It is also possible to travel by bus. There is a way marked route along the South West Coast Path.

By car – Follow the A35 from West Bay to Lyme Regis. The drive should take around 20 minutes and passes Chideock and Felicity’s Farm Shop.

By bus – If you want a break from driving you can travel from Bridport (just 1 mile from West Bay) to Lyme Regis by bus. Catch the x53 Jurassic Coaster from outside The George. The journey should take about 50 minutes, though it can take longer in the summer months. There is a regular service throughout the year – it is reduced during the winter and weekends. Visit the First Bus website for up to timetables and route planner.

By foot – Keen hikers can walk from West Bay to Lyme Regis along the South West Coast Path. The route is approximately 10 miles long and should take around 4 hours at a leisurely pace. The walk is best suited to families with older children because there are a few steep hills to contend with along the way. You’ll be treated to magnificent views along the Jurassic Coast as you pass through Eype, Seatown, Golden Cap and Charmouth. The route passes Highlands End Holiday Park and Golden Cap Holiday Park.

How far is it from West Bay to Weymouth?

West Bay is situated 18 miles from Weymouth. It takes around 40 minutes to make the journey by car, depending on traffic. Public transport is also available.

By car – We highly recommend taking the B3157 Jurassic Coast Road if travelling from West Bay to Weymouth by car. This scenic road has been voted one of the best in the UK and offers excellent sea views for much of the drive. You will pass through quaint villages along the way, including Burton Bradstock, West Bexington and Abbotsbury.

By bus – You can also make the journey by bus, if you’d prefer to use public transport. The x53 Jurassic Coaster Bus has a regular service throughout the year. Take a look at the First bus website for more information and up to date timetables.

How long does it take to walk between the parks?

To walk between Golden Cap Holiday Park and Highlands End Holiday Park, it is approximately 1 to 1.5 hours along the coast path with stunning views from Thorncombe Beacon. To walk between Graston Copse Holiday Park and Highlands End Holiday Park it is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours along the coast path via West Bay.

How long does it take to walk the South West Coast Path?

It takes approximately 7-8 weeks to complete the whole route, depending on your walking speed. It is common for hikers to split the walk up into day walks, or enjoy short breaks to tackle various sections over the course of a couple of days. You might want to view it as a long term challenge – and tackle a couple areas of the path each year on your holidays or day-trips.

How long have West Dorset Leisure Holidays been in business?

The South West Coast Path is 630 miles or 1,014km long. It starts at Minehead in Somerset and finishes at South Haven Point on the shores of Poole Harbour. It is the longest waymarked footpath in England.

The season length on Lodge Holiday Homes at Larkfield Holiday Park is 10.5 months and the dates of this vary each year but the “down time” is a 6 week period during January and February.

How long is the licence agreement?

The licence agreement on all holiday homes varies, but in general, new Caravan Holiday Homes have a 15 year licence. New Lodge Holiday Homes have a 35 year licence, unless otherwise specified. We have a number of pre-owned Caravan and Lodge Holiday Homes for sale that will have a shorter time left on the licence agreement, depending on their age.

How many cars can I bring?

1 car is included in the price of a touring or camping booking. Extra cars are chargeable and can’t be parked next to your pitch. In lodges, apartments, bungalows and caravans, parking for up to 2 cars is included. With most accommodations, parking is available next to it but for some, you may be required to use the nearest car park.

How much does it cost to use Dorset Foot Golf?

The Dorset Foot Golf Course at Highlands End is open to anyone and costs £10.00 for adults and £6 for children. WDLH holidaymakers can save 10% off this price by using the discount code shown in the WDLH app (sign in with booking details required). Balls and scorecards can be collected from the SPAR store.

How much does it cost to use Highlands End Leisure Club?

Highlands End Leisure Club costs £4.50 for adults to use the swimming pool, sauna and steam room. £3.25 for 2-17-year-olds and under 2s go free. The lodges at Highlands End and Golden Cap and the apartments and bungalows at Highlands End include complimentary use of Highlands End Leisure Club. All other park guests must pay the entry fees. The sauna and steam room are for over 18s only.

How much does it cost to use the Little Fire Station Soft Play?

The Little Fire Station Soft Play costs £3.50 for 2 to 6 year olds and £2.00 for under 2s. There is a height restriction of 130cm and it is open daily from 9am-6pm. For diners between 4pm-6pm, use of the soft play is included free of charge with every child’s meal.

How much is the Pitch Fee?

The Pitch Fee varies depending on the Park you choose and the area of the Park you choose and includes local rates, VAT, water and sewerage. For 2025, the Pitch Fees are as follows:

The car parking charge at Charmouth Beach is £5 for a whole day and £3 for a stay of up to two hours. However, these prices may be subject to change.

How to find fossils at Lyme Regis?

Fossil hunting is one of the most popular activities in Lyme Regis. Every year visitors flock to this section of the Jurassic Coast in search of treasures dating back thousands of years. If you’d like to look for fossils during your day trip to Lyme Regis we recommend signing up to a guided walk. The experienced guide will teach you what to look out for and ensure you’re hunting responsibly.

The best beaches for fossil hunting in Lyme Regis are East Cliff Beach and Church Cliff Beach. Both are situated at the Eastern end of the town towards Charmouth. They can get cut off at high water, so always check the tide times before heading out.

I am retired – can I use the Holiday Home all the time?

Being retired does not mean you are on holiday. The test is whether you have a main residence elsewhere.

I have a credit note, can I book online?

Yes, please process your online booking and add your credit note number into the notes box with the words CREDIT NOTE. Please do not make a payment at this stage, we will add the credit amount and then send your confirmation email with the money to be paid along with instructions on how to pay online.

If I book a new holiday and it’s affected by Coronavirus, what happens?

Should the Government change or delay the reopening dates for Holiday Parks, we have introduced a new Coronavirus Guarantee for your peace of mind, which automatically applies to all new and existing bookings free-of-charge.

In relation to the Coronavirus outbreak, you are covered for the following:

1. The park is closed
2. UK Government restrictions on travel
3. A member of the party, or close family relative living in the same household, are diagnosed with COVID-19

In the event of any of the above circumstances, you can contact us between 28 days and 72 hours before arrival and choose one of the following options:

1. Transfer of dates up until December 2021
2. Receive a credit note to use against a future holiday
3. Cancel and receive a full refund

If I choose to sell my Holiday Home, how does it work?

If you decide to sell your Holiday Home then a member of the team will arrange for it to be inspected and provide you with their recommendations. The transfer fee is 15% of the purchase price plus VAT on all Caravans, or 7.5% of the purchase price plus VAT on all Lodges.

A separate client sale charge of £850 includes the following:

• Boiler service
• Internal clean
• External clean of holiday home & decking
• Administration – Purchase & Licence Agreement transfer, Invoicing, Services

Is Bridport near Lyme Regis?

Yes, Bridport is near Lyme Regis – both towns are in West Dorset and within easy reach of our West Dorset Leisure Holidays Parks. They are 10 miles apart.

By car – It takes approximately 20 minutes to drive from Bridport to Lyme Regis depending on traffic. There may be delays in the peak summer months.

By bus – The bus journey from Bridport to Lyme Regis takes approximately 30 minutes. You will need to catch the X51 or X53 Jurassic Coaster from Bridport Bus Station. There is a regular service throughout the year. See the First Bus website for up to date time tables and journey planner.

Is Bridport worth visiting?

Yes! We highly recommend visiting Bridport during your holiday at one of West Dorset Leisure Holidays parks. The historic town has much to offer visitors, including a weekly market, independent shops and excellent pubs, cafes and restaurants. There’s plenty to see and do during your visit with lots of events taking place throughout the year. Some of our favourite attractions include Bridport Museum, Electric Palace and Palmers Brewery.

Bridport is a fantastic starting point for exploring nearby towns and villages, such as West Bay. There are plenty of scenic walks to choose from which offer the chance to take in the surrounding countryside.

Is Charmouth Beach safe to swim in?

Yes, Charmouth Beach is safe to swim at low tide. The water here is particularly gentle and is very popular amongst families and sunbathers.

Is Charmouth Beach sand or stone?

Charmouth Beach is a mixture of sand and small pebbles. The beach is also made up of fossils and sea glass too.

Is Charmouth worth a visit?

Yes, absolutely! Charmouth is a lovely place to visit, especially to enjoy Charmouth Beach which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Here you can sunbathe, have a dip in the sea, or go fossil hunting.

Is Lyme Regis Beach dog friendly?

There are a number of dog friendly beaches to choose from in Lyme Regis. Some are dog friendly year-round, whilst others have seasonal restrictions in place.

• East Cliff Beach – dog friendly year round
• Church Cliff Beach – dog friendly year round
• Monmouth Beach – dog friendly year round
• Town Beach / Front Beach – seasonal restrictions apply. Dog friendly October to April

Dogs must be kept on a short lead and under close control on Marine Parade and The Cobb.

We encourage you to read signage carefully when visiting Lyme Regis with your four-legged friend to ensure you know exactly where the dog friendly areas start and end.

Is Lyme Regis beach sandy?

Lyme Regis is popular with holidaymakers looking to enjoy a fun-filled day at the beach. There are four beaches to choose from, so you’re guaranteed to find somewhere that meets your needs. There is a mixture of sandy, shingle and pebble beaches.

• Front Beach – Front Beach, also known as Town Beach is a great choice for visitors with children. It is split into two sections by a stone jetty. The beach nearest the harbour is sandy, whilst the other half mostly consists of pebbles. RNLI lifeguards patrol the sandy part of the beach during the peak season. Front beach is dog friendly from October to April. Outside of this time dogs are not permitted.
• Monmouth Beach – Monmouth Beach is adjacent to the harbour wall. It is a pebbly beach and much quieter than its neighbour, Front Beach. The rocks are peppered with fossils dating back thousands of years. It’s dog friendly year-round. Always check the tide times before heading to Monmouth Beach. It can get cut off at high water.
• Church Cliff Beach – Church Cliff can be found at the Eastern End of Lyme Regis. The beach is a mix of shingle, sand and rocks at low tide. It’s popular with fossil hunters and families looking to try their hand at rockpooling. Much of the beach is inaccessible at high water, do it’s important to check the tide table before heading out. Church cliff beach is dog friendly year-round. Dogs are allowed off lead.
• East Cliff Beach – East Cliff Beach is a mix of sand and shingle. It is dog friendly year-round and popular with fossil hunters. The beach is prone to landslides, so we encourage visitors not to get too close to the cliffs. East Cliff gets cut off at high tide.

Is Lyme Regis dog friendly?

Lyme Regis is a popular destination with dog owners – there are plenty of dog friendly cafes, pubs and restaurants to visit and the majority of shops permit dogs inside too

Is Lyme Regis in Dorset?

Is Lyme Regis nice?

Lyme Regis is one of the best places to visit on the Jurassic Coast. The popular seaside resort is known as the pearl of Dorset and has plenty to offer visitors looking to enjoy a day trip from our award-winning holiday parks.

There’s a bustling high street with an excellent selection of independent shops and galleries to peruse. There are four fantastic beaches, with watersports and boat trips available throughout the summer months.

Lyme Regis is a haven for foodies looking to sample dishes crafted from local produce. There’s also a fantastic live music scene and varied programme of events in the Marine Theatre.

Is West Bay beach dog friendly?

Dogs are allowed off lead on all 3 of the beaches at West Bay between 1st October and 30th April.

Dogs are not permitted on East Beach (east of the harbour) or West Beach (west of the harbour) between 1st May and 30th September.

There is a third beach at West Bay where dogs are welcome year round. This is separated from West Beach by a rocky groyne.

We kindly remind visitors that dogs should be kept on a lead when walking around the harbour or pier.

Is West Bay beach sandy?

The beaches at West Bay have fine shingle rather than sand.

East Beach (east of the pier) has a sloping bank of shingle which gets fine as you get close to the waters edge.

West Beach (west of the pier) is pebbly. The pebbles get smaller as you get closer to the water and there are patches of coarse sand.

West Bay is the perfect choice for a fun-filled family day at the beach. There are lots of facilities close by.

Is West Bay in Bridport?

West Bay is a small fishing village on the outskirts of Bridport. It takes approximately 30 minutes to walk to Bridport town centre to West Bay. The drive is only 5 minutes.

Is the Fleet Lagoon tidal?

Yes, the Fleet Lagoon is tidal. Water floods into the lagoon from Portland Harbour.

Is the South West Coast Path accessible?

The South West Coast Path Association has marked a number of Easy Access routes, selected because the paths are reasonably level (without steep gradients or significant cambers), relatively wide (at least 85cm wide) and mostly obstacle-free (without steps or stiles, but there may be some gates). These routes are designed to be usable by people with wheelchairs, mobility scooters and pushchairs. You can find out more about these routes on the official website.

Countryside Mobility South West have set up a number of locations in the South West where anybody with difficulty walking can hire an off-road mobility scooter to use on the path. We are pleased to have this scheme available at Highlands End Holiday Park, with hire available from the Park Reception.

Is the South West Coast Path hard?

Some sections of the South West Coast Path are challenging and involve steep ascents and plenty of hills. Other sections are relatively flat and can be enjoyed by children or adults with limited mobility. We recommend taking a look at the South West Coast Path website before starting your walk. There you will find in depth guides detailing the terrain and required ability level. Routes are classified as easy, moderate or challenging.

Is the local beach dog friendly?

There are lots of dog friendly beaches near our Dorset holiday parks.

At Highlands End and Eype Beach Holiday Parks, the closest beach, Eype Beach, is dog friendly all year round and at West Bay there are restrictions on certain beaches at peak times.

At Golden Cap Holiday Park, Seatown Beach allows dogs between 1st October and 30th April, plus there are miles upon miles of coastal path and footpaths to explore on the surrounding 2,000 acres of National Trust land..

At Graston Copse Holiday Park, Burton Beach (1 mile away) has restrictions between 1^st May and 30^th September on the main stretch of beach, with dogs welcome a few hundred metres to the east towards Cogden Beach.

At Sandyholme Holiday Park, the nearest coast is Ringstead Bay (5 miles away), which is dog friendly all year round.

Is there CCTV on the parks?

Yes, there is a 24 hour CCTV that does operate on all the parks at key locations.

Is there WIFI on the Parks?

WIFI is currently available at all of our Holiday Parks and is chargeable at £90.00 for the season, other than at Larkfield where it is included. If you purchase a Holiday Home part way through the season, WIFI is available at a reduced cost, which goes down on a sliding scale.

Is there a bus from Bridport to Beaminster?

Beaminster is 6.5 miles from Bridport. The route is served by public transport if you don’t want to drive. Catch the number 6 bus from East Street, opposite Natwest Bank. It should take between 20 and 30 minutes depending on traffic and time of day.

The bus leaves every 2/3 hours and the service operates Monday to Friday only – it does not run on weekends.

Is there a bus from Bridport to Dorchester?

Dorchester is 15 miles from Bridport. When travelling by bus catch the x51 Jurassic Coaster from East Street in Bridport (opposite Natwest Bank). The journey should take about 45 minutes, depending on traffic and time of day.

It is also possible to catch the C1 and C2 service, though these routes take considerably longer (around 1 to 2 hours).

Is there a bus from Bridport to Lyme Regis?

Yes, there is a bus from Bridport to Lyme Regis if you’d prefer to rely on public transport during your stay. There is a regular service on the X53 Jurassic Coaster and the journey takes around 40 minutes, depending on traffic.

Is there a bus from Lyme Regis to Seaton?

Yes, there is a bus from Lyme Regis to Seaton in Devon. It takes just over 20 minutes, depending on traffic.

Is there a cooling off period?

It is very important to us that you are fully aware of your obligations when purchasing a Holiday Home and if there is anything you are unsure of or wish to have explained to you in more detail, please do not hesitate to ask. Should you decide to withdraw from your purchase within 5 days of agreeing to purchase, we will refund your deposit and cancel the sale. If you withdraw from a purchase after the 5 day cooling off period, you may be subject to an administration fee.

Is there a spectator area at Highlands End Leisure Club?

At Highlands End Leisure Club, there is a very small spectator area. There are tables poolside, which requires you to pay for entry and be wearing a swimming costume. Children under 15 cannot swim unattended and children aged 15 to 18 can only swim unattended when a consent form has been signed at the Leisure Club Reception by a parent or guardian.

My main residence is overseas, does this count?

Yes, but all the same facts are relevant when deciding whether the overseas property or the Holiday Home is your main residence. This would include whether your overseas property is owned or rented (if so, how long it has been rented for) and how much time you spend in the Holiday Home and your overseas property.

What are the Leisure Club opening times?

Opening times for the Highlands End Leisure Club are available on the website. You do not need to book a slot to swim.

What are the best pubs in Lyme Regis?

There are plenty of pubs to choose from if your visiting Lyme Regis for the day. You certainly won’t be short of somewhere to sit and enjoy a well-earned drink. Some of our favourites are situated right on the sea front and boast lovely views along the coastline.

Bridport is home to Palmers Brewery – a family run brewery that have been based in the town for more than 200 years. There are 6 Palmers pubs in the town – The Ropemakers, Markethouse, George Hotel, White Lion, Lord Nelson and the Crown Inn. All have an excellent reputation and a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

We also recommend a trip to our very own Martin’s Bar & Restaurant at Highlands End Holiday Park. We serve a wide selection of local beer and spirits alongside a varied menu of traditional pub food and chefs specials. Martin’s bar is open for holiday park guests and non residents.

What day is Bridport market?

Bridport is a traditional market town in Dorset. A variety of markets take place throughout the month and are extremely popular with visitors and locals. Bridport street market takes place across 3 streets every Wednesday and Saturday from 8am until mid afternoon. There are a wide variety of stalls where you’ll find a mix of local produce, crafts, homeware, clothing and antiques.

Many of the vendors are well established and have been coming to the town to sell their wares for many years.

Bridport Farmers Market – takes place every second Saturday of the month. The farmers market is run independently of the street market.

Bridport Vintage & Antiques Market – takes place on the last Sunday of every month from March – October on St Michaels Trading Estate.

Bridport Vegan & Craft Market – takes place third Saturday of the month. There are stalls on Barrack Street and in the Lyric Theatre.

What day is Charmouth market?

Charmouth market takes place every Monday from the months of May to September. Here you can browse a wide variety of stalls which sell food, gifts, antiques, and other goods.

What days can you arrive?

Touring and camping bookings can commence on any day.

For self-catering, half of our accommodation allows arrivals on a Friday or Monday and the other half on a Saturday. Bookings in glamping accommodation can commence on a Friday or Monday.

What deposit is required to secure my Holiday Home?

We require a deposit of 20% of the purchase price, which is payable by card or bank transfer. For purchases made in full, the remaining balance is due 14 days before the handover date. We do not accept business cards or Amex.

What dinosaurs were found in Charmouth?

The dinosaur that was found in Charmouth was the ‘Scelidosaurus’ (skel-eye-doh-sor-ous). Did you know that the Scelidosaurus is the best-preserved dinosaur to be found in the UK so far? It’s only ever been found in Charmouth and has never been found anywhere else in the whole world.

What do I need to bring with me on holiday?

Essentials – All of our self catering accommodation has a bin bag, toilet roll, tea towel, dishcloth and 2 dishwasher tablets. Please bring with you, additional toilet rolls, bin bags and dishwashing facilities such as washing up liquid or additional dishwasher tablets.

Irons – Irons and ironing boards are provided in lodges, apartments and bungalows. They are not supplied in caravans but are available for use in the laundry rooms on the Park.

Hairdryers – Hairdryers are provided in the lodges only. For other accommodation, they can be used free of charge in the toilet/shower blocks.

All crockery, cutlery, utensils and cooking equipment are provided in self catering accommodation.

We try to stock as many of the essentials as possible in the Park Shops, particularly in the shops at Highlands End and Golden Cap, which are larger.

What do I need to check in?

An email you will receive a few days before your arrival, includes a link to complete an online check-in where you can confirm your holiday details are correct and let us know an ETA for your arrival.

Upon arrival, the process varies by park. Almost all of our holiday accommodation and glamping now uses key boxes. You will receive the code by text message as soon as it has been confirmed that the cleaning and preparation of your holiday home is complete, at or before 4pm.

In the evening you will receive a text message asking you to let us know you have arrived, which you can confirm by clicking the link in the text. Likewise, on the morning of departure you will receive another text asking you to let us know you have departed.

Touring and Camping arrivals at all parks can proceed straight to the pitches. At Highlands End Holiday Park and Big Berries Camping at Golden Cap Holiday Park, there are ANPR barriers. The barrier will scan and recognise your number plate, allowing entry. When checking your holiday details on the online check-in, please double check that the vehicle registration you have provided is the correct one.

What happens at the end of my Licence Agreement?

At the end of the Pitch Licence Agreement, WDLH will arrange for your Holiday Home to be removed from the pitch. You can of course part-exchange your Holiday Home for a new Holiday Home at any time during the licence agreement and a new licence agreement will be issued.

What happens if I arrive late?

Please arrive no later than 10pm, so as not to disturb other guests. If you need to contact your Park Reception, you can do so on these telephone numbers:

If you have not arrived and we have not heard from you by 9:00am on the day after your arrival date, we reserve the right to re-let the Holiday Home or Pitch. No refund will be payable unless the park is full and the holiday has been rebooked when there may be a refund, less our administrative and financial costs.

What happens if I break the holiday rule?

Your Licence Agreement with us contains your undertaking to comply with the holiday rule. If you broke that we would ask you to stop doing so. If you were to fail to comply, we would be entitled to terminate the Licence Agreement and to ask you to remove the Holiday Home. The planning authority might also take action against you for the breach of the holiday rule.

What happens in bad weather?

In bad weather, you may be asked to take down windbreaks, awnings or gazebos.

In the event of adverse weather conditions forecast in advance of, or during your stay, we may contact you by text and email with any further instructions.

What happens on handover day?

We will arrange an appointment for you with a member of the sales team and a member of the park maintenance team on handover day. The balance has to be settled and all paperwork completed prior to the handover day. Please leave up to 2 hours for the appointment with our team. After handover is complete, we are available for questions via the Park Reception or owners@wdlh.co.uk.

What is Bridport famous for?

Historically, Bridport played an important role in the twine, string and rope making industry. The town was responsible for making rope for the Navy – in fact Henry VIII ordered that all hemp grown in a 5 mile radius should be reserved for this use.

Today, the town is best known for its weekly market and strong arts community. Some people even refer to Bridport as ‘Notting Hill on Sea’!

Bridport and the surrounding towns and villages have featured heavily in the hit ITV drama, Broadchurch. This has helped put West Dorset on the map and attract holidaymakers to the area.

What is Charmouth famous for?

Charmouth Beach is the most famous attraction in Charmouth. Many people travel from all over the UK to visit the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site to search for fossils.

What is Fleet Lagoon?

The Feet Lagoon is a tidal body of brackish water in between Chesil Beach and the mainland. It is 13km long and stretches from Ferry Bridge to Abbotsbury. The area is of great scientific importance due to the wildlife that inhabits the water and shoreline. It is a designated Marine Protection Area and Site of Special Scientific Interest and Conservation. The water is very shallow in places and ranges from 2-5m in depth.

What is included in the purchase price?

The advertised price of a new Holiday Home includes the purchase of the Holiday Home, transport, siting, connection to services, a Ramtech Alarm system (ongoing charges apply), decking (if advertised, otherwise basic steps), smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, fridge/freezer, TV aerial or satellite dish and VAT. Some Lodges include storage boxes as standard.

The advertised price of a pre-owned Holiday Home includes the purchase of the Holiday Home, decking/steps that have already been installed and VAT. The contents of the Holiday Home are not included unless specified on the purchase order.

Approaching from the south, turn off the A352 at the village of Owermoigne onto Kit Lane. Follow the road through the village and out and after 1.6km you will see the park entrance on the left hand side. Approaching from the north, turn off Warmwell Road in the village of Crossways onto Moreton Road (signposted to Owermoigne). Follow the road for 2.25km until you reach Sandyholme Holiday Park on your right hand side.

To find us, leave the A35 at the turning to Eype and take the third turning on your right. At the top of the lane, bear right and follow the narrow lane carefully towards the sea – Eype Beach will be on your right approximately 100m before the beach car park.

What is the beach like at West Bay?

There are 2 main beaches at West Bay – East Beach (to the east of the harbour) and West Beach (to the west). Both beaches are very picturesque and great for a family day out.

East beach is flanked by dramatic sandstone cliffs that look golden when they are illuminated by the sun. The beach has a steep shingle bank and a life guard service during the peak season.

West beach has slightly larger pebbles, though these do turn to shingle as you get closer to the waters edge. This beach is not patrolled by lifeguards.

There is a third, smaller beach next to West Beach. It is separated by a rocky groyne.

All 3 beaches are dog friendly between 1st October and 30th April. There are some restrictions in place outside of this time.

What is the best section of the South West Coast Path?

This is completely down to personal preference – we think it’s all great! The best section will depend on what you look for in a walk. The Jurassic Coast section in Dorset has something for everyone to enjoy including commanding clifftop views, quaint villages, wildlife, cultural and heritage attractions and excellent food and drink.

What is the cliff made of at Charmouth Beach?

The cliffs at Charmouth Beach are made up of layers of mud, silt and clay. The layers built up over millions of years and are classified as sedimentary rocks. The layers turned to rock over millions of years of pressure from the layers above. This is one of the best places in the world for fossil hunting.

What is the speed limit on the parks?

The parks have a speed limit of 10mph, which is strictly enforced. Traffic movements are restricted after 11:00pm to minimise disturbance on the parks. All vehicles must be taxed, insured and have passed MOT regulations. All motoring laws which apply to the highway, also apply on the parks. Please take care and do not drive on the grass during wet weather or the winter period. We do not permit the use of any non-road legal motorised vehicles e.g. mini scooters, quad bikes etc.

What is there to do at West Bay?

West Bay is a picturesque fishing village on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset. It is situated on the outskirts of Bridport and within easy reach of West Dorset Leisure Holidays Park’s. There are 3 picturesque beaches at West Bay, making it the perfect destination for a fun filled family day out. It’s well worth a visit in the summer or winter months.

East Beach is the most iconic of Bridport’s 3 beaches. It is situated to the east of the harbour and boasts striking sandstone cliffs that feature heavily in ITV’s famed drama, Broadchurch.

The town centres around a quaint working harbour where you can see fishing boat and yachts. The harbour is flanked by lots of kiosks offering delicious food and drink, including fish and chips and ice cream.

There are a handful of shops to peruse during your visit alongside an arcade and some excellent pubs and restaurants.

In terms of activities you can enjoy fishing trips, paddle board hire, row boat and canoe hire and adrenaline fuelled rib rides.

The West Bay Discovery Centre is also a popular choice with families. There’s also an award-winning outdoor play park.

What is there to do in Bridport in the rain?

There’s no need to worry if it rains during your holiday in Bridport – there are plenty of wet weather activities to keep the whole family entertained. Here’s our pick of rainy day activities in Bridport:

What maintenance am I responsible for?

As a Holiday Home Owner, you are responsible for the maintenance of the Holiday Home and decking. It is recommended that you clean the exterior of your Holiday Home and decking at least once a year and we can put you in touch with a local company that does this.

You are also responsible for the cleanliness of your storage box and the grass immediately around your Holiday Home, where our ride-on lawnmower cannot reach.

Weeding beneath the caravan and decking is your responsibility. Surrounding park land, hedges and flower beds are not to be touched and will be cut by the Park Maintenance team. There is an option for our team to carry out works on your Holiday Home – charges apply.

What payment methods do you accept?

Bookings can be made online 24 hours a day. For online bookings, payments can be made by logging in to the website at any time. We take payments by credit or debit card. For bookings made over the phone, payments can only be made by phone calls or by online banking – BACS / online banking details are available on request.

What shops are there at West Bay?

There are a handful of shops to peruse during a day out at West Bay. You can buy gifts, antiques and clothes.

If you want to stock up on essentials there is a Spar Convenience on the outskirts of the village. There is also a Cornish Bakehouse and Harbour Gifts, which sells a selection of Dorset made produce such as Moore’s biscuits.

Next to the car park there is a small retail area, where you’ll find the Customs House Emporium and Slader’s Yard Gallery. Here you can buy antique furniture, artwork, ornaments and vintage clothes.

There are a couple of clothing stores including Finesse and Bayside.

West Bay Angling Centre sells a wide selection of fishing tackle and bait.

There are plenty of shops to peruse in Bridport if you fancy indulging in some retail therapy during your stay at one of West Dorset Leisure Holidays Parks. There are a handful of high street stores to browse, including M&Co, Mountain Warehouse, Fat Face and Peacocks alongside a fantastic selection of independent shops.

The pretty town centre is ideal for souvenir shopping or picking up some gifts to take home. You’ll be able to find homeware, clothing, toys, pet supplies and artwork for sale.

Bridport market

Bridport is a market town and there are plenty of speciality markets to enjoy throughout the year, including farmers, vintage and antique markets. The weekly market offers visitors the chance to sample local artisan produce and browse local makers arts and crafts.

Food shops

If you need to stock up on essentials while in Bridport there are a couple of supermarkets to choose from, including Waitrose, Morrisons, Lidl, Co Op. If you’re staying at Highlands End Holiday Park and Golden Cap Holiday Park you can make use of the onsite SPAR shop.

What shops are there in Charmouth?

There are a wide variety of independent shops in Charmouth. Many of the shops are fossil, crystal and gift shops owned by artists and locals. There is also a lovely Bakery where you can buy freshly baked bread, cakes and pastries.

What shops are there in Lyme Regis?

Lyme Regis has a bustling high street if you fancy indulging in a spot of retail therapy during your day trip from one of West Dorset Leisure Holidays Parks. There are lots of independent boutiques selling artwork, homeware, gifts, local produce and clothing.

What town is Broadchurch based on?

Broadchurch is a fictional town that featured in the hit ITV drama Broadchurch, featuring David Tennant and Olivia Coleman. It is based on the small fishing village of West Bay.

Many locations in West Dorset feature in the series, including Bridport, Eype and Little Breedy. As you walk around West Bay you will recognise many landmarks from the drama.

What’s Lyme Regis famous for?

Lyme Regis has earned an excellent reputation for its pretty harbour and magnificent views along the Jurassic Coast. It is widely considered one of the top seaside resorts in the area and a must visit during a beach holiday in Dorset.

When is my balance due?

The balance on your Holiday Home is due 14 days before handover.

When is the Pitch Fee due?

The Pitch Fee is invoiced in December (25%) and a balance invoice in February. If you pay upfront in this way, you will receive a £50 + VAT discount off the pitch fee. Alternatively, you can pay the full amount by a standing order split over 7 months. As per the Pitch Licence Agreement, an annual review of the Pitch Fee takes place in June and the change in Pitch Fee is due to a number of factors.

When is the balance on my holiday due?

Balances are due 10 weeks before your arrival date for self-catering, glamping and touring holidays and 28 days before arrival for camping holidays. If you are making the booking within these dates, the full amount will be payable upon booking. Please visit www.wdlh.co.uk and choose ‘Manage my booking’ to pay your balance, or call 01308 426940.

Where are dogs allowed on the park?

All of our Holiday Parks are dog friendly and dogs must be on leads at all times when not at your accommodation. With the of some Glamping units, all of our dog friendly accommodation have an enclosed decking.

All parks have designated dog exercising meadows where they can be walked off the lead. At Highlands End Holiday Park, there is a dog shower and Martin’s Bar & Restaurant allows dogs in over half the venue and in the beer garden. The SPAR shops at both Highlands End and Golden Cap Holiday Parks sell dog essentials, such as toys, treats and poo bags, though only assistance dogs are permitted in the shops.

Where are the best places to eat in West Bay?

West Bay has a host of options to eat and drink. There are wide selection of cafe’s, pubs and restaurants – some have won national acclaim.

If you’re looking for somewhere a bit different we highly recommend The Station Kitchen. This quirky restaurant is situated within a WW1 train carriage on a disused station. Dishes including steak and seafood are served from the old station house.  They always endeavour to use Dorset produce.

The Watch House Cafe is positioned on the beach and boasts views out to sea. The team offer relaxed dining and a varied menu comprising of home baked cakes, wood fired pizza and fresh sea food.

Rise is an informal cafe bar next to the River Brit. Here you can enjoy a wide variety of dishes – including vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options while admiring the surrounding scenery.

If you fancy a pint with your meal you won’t be short of pubs to choose from. Bridport Arms Hotel is close to the harbour and popular with visitors and locals. The West Bay and The George Inn are also excellent options.

There are plenty of takeaway options at West Bay. Around the harbour there are wide selection of kiosks selling fish and chips, burgers, seafood and sweet treats. Baboo Gelato serve delicious ice cream in lots of unique flavours.

In your welcome pack, you will get a Dorset Diamond card, which you can fill in and hand into the Park Reception if you receive great customer service from any member of our team. 2 days after departure you will receive an email with a link to our online feedback survey.

If you have enjoyed your holiday, please leave us a review. Each of the Parks has a Tripadvisor page, a Google Review Page and a Facebook Page where your feedback can be left.

In the unlikely event that you have cause for complaint or suggestion during your stay, please let a member of the Reception Team know, giving us the opportunity to investigate and resolve any problem. Telling us at the end of a stay, or after you have left the park, does not give us the opportunity to meet and exceed your holiday expectations.

Where does the South West Coast Path start in Dorset?

The official stating point (or ending point) is at South Haven Point at Poole Harbour. It is marked by a commemorative sculpture, showcasing the different wildlife that can be seen along the route. You can join the route at any point and complete as much or as little of the path as you like.

Where is Bridport Harbour?

Bridport doesn’t have a harbour. The nearest harbour is at West Bay – a small fishing village just 1 mile away. There is pay and display car parking close to the harbour or you can enjoy a scenic 30 minute walk from Bridport town centre along the river.

West Bay Harbour is a hive of activity, especially in the summer months. There are a selection of yachts and motor boats moored in the harbour as well as commercial fishing boats and charter boats offering fishing trips and rib rides. The harbour drys out at low water.

There is a walk way around the harbour, with benches to sit back and watch the comings and goings. There are a number of food kiosks serving fish and chips, ice cream and fresh sea food. It’s also popular for families to go crabbing here.

 Fossils can be found at any point along Charmouth beach. We would recommend looking for fossils within the pebbles and sand on the beach itself, rather than the cliffs for safety reasons!

We highly recommend stopping at The Ropemakers or The Market House Inn for pub grub and a well-earned drink. Both offer a varied menu and dishes for all the family.

If you’re in the mood for an asian inspired dish, stop by Dorshi or Rakhang Thai Cuisine should be top of your list. Soulshine, The Green Yard Cafe and Aroma are excellent choices if you’re looking for a light lunch or warming drink.

Of course, you should also take time to visit Martin’s Bar and restaurant, which is situated in the grounds of Highlands End Holiday Park. Our team of chefs use locally sourced produce and serve a variety of tasty meals. It is open to holiday park guests and non residents.

Why is there so much sea glass in Charmouth?

The sea glass found at Charmouth beach has been smoothed out by the tide and rocks around the bay for decades, or even centuries. All the sea glass found at Charmouth Beach is very old. Many people visit Charmouth Beach to collect the sea glass found here, either for fun or for art and craft projects.
