For probably one of the best campsites in Dorset, Golden Cap on the Jurassic Coast is the perfect choice! Located in the valley of the River Winniford, the camping pitches at Golden Cap Holiday Park are just a few hundred metres from Seatown Beach and the South West Coast Path. It is a popular option for anyone looking for camping near Lyme Regis.
All of the grass pitches are spacious (7.5 metres or 24.6 feet) and include electric hook up. There is an additional camping field called Big Berries, with non-electric pitches, available in the summer. Many of the camping pitches enjoy views of the surrounding hillsides and countryside and are just a short walk from the coast. The camping pitches are located within the Red Hill View touring & camping field, along with the touring & motorhome pitches and our glamping accommodation.
The camping pitches all have use of the toilet and shower block, with clean and well maintained facilities including a laundry room (charges apply), washing up sinks, a freezer for ice blocks, free hairdryers and more. Dogs are welcome with all camping bookings (max of 2) and prices vary per night depending upon the time of year. There is a small enclosed dog exercising meadow on the park for exercising dogs off the lead. For families, there is a picnic area with sea views at the front of the park, a children’s playground and a fishing lake (permit required).
The sloping field enjoys great views over the Dog House hills to the clifftop peak of Thorncombe Beacon, as well as Golden Cap, the highest cliff on the south coast of England. Red Hill View is just a 200 metre walk from the front of the park. At the Park Reception and Park Shop there is a pizza takeaway, hot and cold drinks, ice creams and much more. The South West Coast Path passes the park entrance and a further 100 metres south you will reach Seatown Beach and the award-winning Anchor Inn pub.
You can walk along the bridleway and footpaths to the village of Chideock with its 2 pubs, bus stops to catch the Jurassic Coast bus and convenience store. The park is just a few miles west from the market town of Bridport and fishing village of West Bay, where there is a choice of supermarkets, places to eat and things to do. Venture west and you will reach the coastal village of Charmouth with its heritage coast centre and guided fossil walks, as well as Lyme Regis, a charming town with sandy beach, cobb harbour and independant shops. Golden Cap Holiday Park is in a fantastic location for viewing the night sky – find out more about stargazing.
We also have a spacious summer camping field with 150+ non-electric pitches and beautiful views over the valley and coastline. Called Big Berries, this 16 acre field is perfect for groups and families and is suitable for tents and VWs. The field has fantastic facilities just a few minutes walk away with a laundry room (charges apply), ironing facilities, hairdryers, toilets, showers and a freezer for ice blocks.
