Palmers has been brewing authentic cask conditioned real ales in the West Dorset market town of Bridport since 1794. We have never felt the need to describe our ales as “craft” because they have never been anything else.

Each year thousands of visitors join us to look round the historic brewhouse, following the traditional process from the raw ingredients to a few halves of the final product. It is a process that in many ways has changed very little in the last two and a quarter centuries. Where it has been updated it has always been in the pursuit of quality. We live in a day and age where it is fashionable to claim to be passionate.

If Palmers has a passion it is for quality, ensuring that every pint reaches our customers in perfect condition. Investing in our storage, transport, cellars and most importantly in training the people who handle our ales from the brewery to our licensees and their teams.

Cask Marque, the leading organisation that monitors beer quality in UK pubs, recently described us as “obsessive”, a compliment we are happy to take.

Working with some of the top licensees in the industry we are proud that many of our 53 pubs have been recognised as some of the best in the country. Pubs that draw visitors to the region from far and wide, visitors who are in search of the best of local produce and a genuine English product, cask ale. Tours run on weekdays throughout the year and can be booked through Palmers Wine Store, 01308 427500.

This park is in a wonderful location. The local village is beautiful and only a 15 min walk along the river. The beach is then another 15 minutes along - again a beautiful walk. We were blessed with amazing weather so we spent the afternoon on Hive Beach.
