A traditional seaside town with a beautiful sandy beach and historic harbour.
Weymouth is a quintessential seaside town, famed for its long stretch of golden sand. The beach is extremely popular with families thanks to the shallow waters and seasonal lifeguard service, which create a safe place to paddle and bathe. Traditional entertainment can be found along the length of the sand, perfect for keeping the little ones entertained. Children will love the fairground, Punch and Judy show, donkey rides as well as the sand sculpture pod, where they can see their favourite TV characters brought to life. The eastern end of the beach is quieter and popular amongst water sports enthusiasts looking to kayak, jet ski or standup paddle board.
Quaint Harbour
The historic harbour is a hive of activity during the summer with plenty to see and do. Restaurants, cafes and bars line the quayside where you can enjoy a bite to eat and soak up the wonderful atmosphere. Sample locally caught fish and chips on the harbour wall watching the visiting yachts sail past and the fishing boats land their days catch. Across the towns lifting bridge you will find Hope Square where the old Devinish Brewery can be found. On bank holiday weekends and throughout the warmer months this area is alive with local bands, performances and the occasional market showcasing artisan makes from local producers. A gentle stroll up to the Nothe Fort and gardens will be rewarded with stunning views across Weymouth Bay and towards the Isle of Portland.
Parking
Weymouth has numerous carparks the majority of which are pay and display. There is also a park and ride bus service which is a convenient way to escape the busy town centre. Dogs are allowed on the beach, however restrictions apply.
