Artisanal ice cream made from local produce, available at West Bay and Lyme Regis.
Baboo Gelato is a rapidly growing artisanal ice cream maker based in Bridport, Dorset. We prepare each batch from scratch using local ingredients and Italian know-how to make smooth and intensely flavoured ice cream. Much of our produce comes from our own garden, or from wonderful local farms like North Perrott Fruit Farm or Forde Abbey. We use organic milk from Eastfield Farm in Somerset. The care of the cows at Eastfield is exceptional, and the cows graze on meadows covered with different grasses which give the organic milk a particularly rich flavour. Where we cannot source locally, we source from the best of the world, so our pistachios come directly from a farm in Bronte in Sicily, and our hazelnuts from a family farm in Piedmont.
We sell from our iconic kiosks in the harbour in West Bay and on Marine Parade in Lyme Regis, and to an increasing number of restaurants. At our kiosks we not only offer a regularly changing range of seasonal flavours, but also a choice of milkshakes, waffles (in the winter), Italian pastries, gorgeous hot chocolate loaded with whipped cream and marshmallows, tea, and coffee, hand roasted for us by Read’s of Sherborne.
We have won many awards including Taste of the West Champion Ice Cream 2016 and have been a finalist in 2017 and 2018. Our founder Annie Hanbury has been shortlisted for Great British Entrepreneur 2018.
