In 1833 six men from the village of Tolpuddle started the Friendly Society of Agricultural Labourers to protest against low farming wages, these men were arrested and sentenced to seven years in prison.
A large demonstration marched through London and 800,000 signed a petition which was given to Parliament.
Three years later the government backed down and the men returned home with free pardons as heroes.
The brave actions of these men helped pave the way for trade unions and for the protection of employees rights.
Free entry and free parking with access for people with disabilities and mobility issues.
