Animal Pen
Highlands End is home to a number of sheep and a lovable herd of alpacas that are waiting to meet you!
Alpacas are friendly and charming animals, and are a hit with visitors of all ages. They offer a memorable and unique experience for guests.
On select dates throughout the year, we have Alpaca Meet & Greet events, where you can meet a member of our farming team to ask questions, feed the alpacas and snap some photos with them. Please note, these may take place in a private pen elsewhere on the Park, just follow signage on the day.
Guests are welcome to say hello to them from outside of their enclosure, however their welfare and safety is important to us, so there are some things to remember when you interact with them:
- Alpacas eyesight is very sensitive, so please do not stroke their faces.
- Some of them may be pregnant and must not experience too much stress or excitement.
- Please keep children calm and quiet and do not allow dogs up to the fence.
- Warning – if feeling threatened, alpacas are known to spit!
- Their diet is controlled so please do not feed them.
As well as alpacas, Highlands End is home to a number of breeds of sheep, and you’ll sometimes see a few of them in this pen as we rotate our animals to keep the grass in good condition. Sheep don’t tend to interact with guests as much, so don’t be disheartened if they don’t want to come and say hello.
