As well as these great attractions, there is the esplanade and seafront with a 1 mile long shingle beach, a flat promenade with seating, ice cream huts and beach side cafes and views across Lyme Bay to Beer Head. Take a stroll from the seafront to the Cliff Field Gardens where you can discover the Labyrinth revealing 185 million years of evolution and the Geological Timeline telling the story of earth starting 4600 million years ago. The South West Coast Path passes through Seaton, with beautiful walks to the village of Beer and along the Undercliffs Nature Reserve to Lyme Regis, which is well worth the 6 mile walk.
Jurassic Coast
Seaton is the only place on the Jurassic Coast where all three Jurassic, Triassic and Cretaceous periods can be seen at once. The geological, wildlife habitat and landscape have achieved national and international acclaim with the world heritage status, three European Special Areas of Conservation, East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and numerous local wildlife designations. Seaton’s setting is enchanting. Approach from the top of Seaton Down Hill and you’ll see the whole expanse of the Axe Valley and the magnificent Lyme Bay stretching before you.
