Lulworth Castle & Park
This place is not usually open now.
Lulworth Castle is a spectacular Grade I listed building, built in the 17th Century as a hunting lodge to entertain aristocracy and royalty. It was partially restored following a fire in 1929 and is now open to the public as an historic visitor attraction and event venue. It is owned by the Weld Family who own the Lulworth Estate, including nearby Lulworth Cove.
The interior of the castle presents a wealth of fascinating history. Follow the story of the Weld family, walk in the footsteps of Kings and Queens and explore the memorabilia collections. There are spacious grounds and panoramic views over the Purbeck countryside from the tower. Within the park is also the 15th Century Church of St. Andrew and the Roman Catholic Chapel of St. Mary’s. The beautiful grounds can be explored and there is a children’s playground and space for picnics. The Castle Tearoom offers a takeaway service and has a small collection of gifts.
