Mapperton House & Gardens
Mapperton House is a glorious sandstone manor house and romantic valley located deep in the Dorset countryside, surrounded by rolling hills. There is the house to explore, which is home to the Earl and Countess of Sandwich, as well as 15 acres of gardens and the Coach House Cafe.
Mapperton, which is open from March to October, hosts several events each year, including charity plant fairs, classical concerts, easter trails, creepy crawly shows, food shows and halloween fun days. The house is open by guided tour only, which run at set times each day.
There is ample free parking for cars and tickets can be purchased in advance or on arrival. Many areas are accessible by wheelchair. Dogs are allowed on leads outside the Coach House but not in the gardens or in the house. There is a small shop to buy souvenirs of your visit, as well as inspirational gifts celebrating the beauty of the English garden and landscape. The Coach House serves a delicious selection of light meals, burgers, gourmet sandwiches and cakes with a fine selection of teas, soft drinks and coffee. Brunch is available, as well as a Sunday Roast. There are resident cockerels, ducks, chickens, doves and giant tortoises to watch from the seating outside.
