Chideock Manor Gardens is set in 12 acres of beautiful Dorset countryside, just north of the village of Chideock. It has an extensive and varied gardens, which is open to the public by appointment. At the front of the manor there is a formal lawn, parkland and lake. To the south there are more formal gardens including a Lime Walk, Rose arches, Yew walk, stepped water garden, Hydrangea Walk and parterre.

The gardens are set over a number of different levels and include some unusual plants including 20 varieties of Magnolia. North of the manor house, there is an apple orchard and formal vegetable garden, as well as a 100 year old Acer palmatium, fern garden and pond. The gardens are a lovely spot to spend a couple of hours exploring in peace and quiet.

The manor house was built by the Weld Family in 1811, as well as the Roman Catholic Church attached. The same family occupied the house until 1996, when it was bought by Howard and Deirdre Coates, who have brought the gardens back to their former glory.

Admission

Admissions are by appointment only between 10am and 6pm at £10 per adult and free for under 10s. For groups of 10 or more, tea and homemade cakes can be included for a total of £15 per head. There is free and plentiful parking, a toilet facility, some garden areas are wheelchair friendly, dogs are welcome on short leads. To reach the gardens, turn at the church in the middle of the village of Chideock into North Road. Chideock Manor is half a mile along the road on the right hand side. Turn right at ‘The Wishbones’ and proceed along this lane.
