A Historical Day In The Purbecks
One of the most fascinating places to visit in Dorset is Tyneham, the remains of a small village that was abandoned during World War 2 when the military took over. The area is part of Lulworth Ranges so be sure to check opening days and stick to designated paths. There is lots to explore and learn in the village, and it’s a short walk to Worbarrow Bay, one of Dorset’s quietest and most unspoilt beaches. After a morning at Tyneham, head into the village of Corfe Castle and grab lunch at The Fox Inn and explore the quaint and picturesque streets, before visiting the ruins of the castle itself, which dominates the skyline with its dramatic silhouette. If there’s time, you could even enjoy a trip on Swanage Railway, a beautiful steam train that’s bound to make some great photos. If you keep your dog under control and on a lead at times, the whole day is dog friendly.
