A visit to West-Dorset isn’t complete without a taste of some of the finest ice cream the south west has to offer. With so many high quality ice cream parlours and producers creating delicious and unique flavours, you’ll be spoilt for choice this summer! We’ve compiled a list of just 5 of our favourites to sample during your stay in Dorset!

Purbeck Ice-Cream – West Bay

Sammii G’s is situated near West Bay’s busy harbour and serves over 40 flavours of Purbeck Ice Cream. From salted-maple and raspberry ripple to Dorset Marmalade, a fantastic range of flavours can be found on your visit.

Purbeck ice cream have been specialising in ice cream for over 3 decades now, perfecting their craft and recipes. All of their flavours are created with local fresh milk, thick double cream and are loaded with lots of natural flavours, which are all gluten and egg free.

Rossi’s – Weymouth Sea Front

Rossi’s has been a staple on Weymouth’s historic esplanade since 1937, when Italian immigrant Fioravanti Figliolini first opened the parlour. Today it remains a family run business and continues to serve the same top secret recipes perfected all those years ago. The iconic vanilla free natural ice cream is a firm favourite amongst customers, along with a range of specials, which change throughout the year. Other standout flavours include Raspberry Ripple, Mango Sorbet and Chocolate Fountain all of which can be enjoyed in a cone or a tub.

Baboo Gelato – West Bay

Baboo Gelato‘s expertise stands in traditional, hand-made ice cream made with an ever-expanding range of flavours. Their team of ice cream aficionados strive to produce unique and creative combinations using fruit grown on their farm just outside of Bridport. Baboo are mindful of sustainability and endeavour to source local ingredients where possible, changing their menu throughout the year to make use of seasonal produce. On their menu you can find flavours that range from simple yet sublime vanilla bean and chocolate to more adventurous concoctions such as damson ripple. Baboo also offers a wide range of sorbets if you’re feeling fruity, including apple, blackcurrant and renowned gin and tonic.

Boho Gelato – Weymouth

Boho Gelato is the perfect place in Weymouth to grab something to help you cool off on a hot and sunny day. Their funky parlour is located on St Mary St, just in from the harbour and offers a wide selection of artisan gelato and sorbet. Their menu includes a fantastic range of flavours from Golden Oreo to Raspberry and Rhubarb sorbet. The team work hard to cater to a number of dietary requirements, with plenty of dairy free options available. There’s even delicious milkshakes available if you fancy something a bit different.

Salcombe Dairy Ice-cream – Dartmouth

Salcombe Dairy specialises in quality ice cream, sorbets and frozen yogurt.

With more than 20 delicately balanced flavours, including strawberries and cream, rum and raisin and Kenyan coffee, you’re bound to find something that takes your fancy. For those looking for something a little more daring, there’s even popcorn, Salcombe mud and stem ginger.
