Maiden Castle
The site is a hilltop enclosure defended by high banks and ditches.
In 400 and 200 BC at the height of its Iron Age occupation, the hillfort would have been densely packed with houses, roads and storage buildings bustling with people and their livestock.
Located just off the A345, Maiden Castle has plenty of free parking.
Open year round, for public visiting.
