Exmouth

Exmouth lies at the Western end of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. It is a popular seaside resort with plenty to offer visitors of all ages, including family friendly attractions and an award-winning beach. There is so much to see and do here during a day trip from one of our West Dorset Leisure Holidays parks. We highly recommend a visit during your stay if you’re looking for a quintessential day at the beach.

Exmouth beach

Exmouth boasts the longest seafront in Devon and over 2 miles of golden sandy beach. In the summer it’s an idyllic spot to spend quality family time whilst enjoying the great outdoors. Children will love building sandcastles, paddling in the shallows and exploring rockpools at low tide. Adults can relax and unwind with a good book in hand, whilst taking in the views.

When the conditions are right watersports enthusiasts flock to this part of the coastline to play in the waves. Exmouth has earned a reputation as one of the best windsurfing and kitesurfing destinations in the South West and it’s not difficult to see why. There are plenty of activity providers offering lessons and equipment hire if you fancy getting out on the water during your visit. If you’re looking for something a little more sedate, Stuart Line Cruises run scenic boat trips throughout the year.

A walk along the promenade will take you to the marina. Here you can spend some time looking at the boats and colourful apartments that flank the harbour walls. There’s also a selection of delicious cafes to pick up a bite to eat.

Family friendly resort

Visitors with young children will find plenty of things to do in Exmouth to keep the little ones entertained. A land train runs along the promenade and there’s also a crazy golf course, amusements arcade and RNLI lifeboat information centre. Further in the town you’ll find a cinema, theatre and bowling alley. The World of Country Life farm and Crealy Theme Park are nearby.

Walking and Cycling

Exmouth is situated on the Eastern bank of the River Exe, where the river meets the sea. It’s a haven for wildlife and home to many varieties of birds. In the winter, migrating species travel from afar to take advantage of our mild temperatures. There’s always plenty to see no matter what time of year you visit.

You can enjoy a spot of bird watching during a leisurely walk along the estuary. This area is also popular with cyclists thanks to the Exe Estuary Cycle Trail, which can be followed all the way to Dawlish. Keen hikers can tick off sections of South West Coast Path that pass through the town.

Food and Drink 

A trip to Exmouth isn’t complete without indulging in some fish and chips. There are plenty of kiosks lining the seafront as well as well as a number of independent restaurants in the town. We highly recommend stopping at Rockfish, if you’re hoping to sample locally caught seafood. Make sure you make a reservation as it can busy during the summer months!
