Eype Beach

Eype is a beautiful pebble beach located on Dorset’s Jurassic Coast. Just a short 500m walk from our Highlands End Holiday Park, this secluded spot is the ideal place to escape, relax and enjoy far reaching views out to sea and along the coast. Like most of West Dorset’s coastline, Eype has a shelved shingle bank, flanked by steep cliffs stretching into the distance. It is perhaps lesser known than other beaches in the area, which means that it can be relatively quiet even in the height of the summer season.

Far-reaching views

Thorncombe Beacon rises high above the beach and avid walkers can enjoy picturesque hikes along the South West Coast Path. In the spring thrift grows along the cliff path, creating a beautiful purple backdrop for landscape photographers who favour the location. Eype is rugged and undeveloped, which adds to its charm throughout the seasons. In the summer it is perfect for enjoying a picnic or BBQ and in the colder months fantastic for a bracing walk. Eype is popular amongst anglers and fossil hunters.

Dog friendly

Eype Beach is one of the best beaches in Dorset for dog owners, with it being dog friendly all year round. Whats more, it is just a short walk from Highlands End Holiday Park with the dog friendly Martin’s Bar & Restaurant and there is an enclosed 3 acre dog exercising field with fantastic coastal views located between the park and the beach for exercising dogs off the lead.

For visitors travelling by car there is small car park located on the cliff side with steep steps down to the beach. The car park is small so arriving early is advisable during busier times of years. There is an honesty box in the car park for donations. The New Inn Pub is just 300m away if you are looking for a bite to eat or a cold drink during your visit. There are no life guards on duty at Eype, therefore care must be taken when entering the water. Whilst many visitors choose to swim here, the sea gets deep very quickly so children should be supervised when paddling or playing in the water.
