Charmouth Beach Webcam

Dorset Council provide this excellent webcam from the Charmouth Coast Heritage Centre which looks over Charmouth Beach, one of our guest’s favourite beaches on the Jurassic Coast.

The webcam pans around, showing the beach looking east towards Golden Cap, as well as providing views out to sea and views towards Lyme Regis and the Black Ven cliff. The Coast Centre houses an impressive display of fossils, including an Ichthyosaur, which starred in David Attenborough’s BBC documentary ‘the sea dragon’. There are interactive displays and little ones can get hands on with a number of children’s activities.

Charmouth Beach is one of the best places in the World for fossil hunting and the location for many of the area’s fossil hunting guided walks and day trips. Find out more about fossil hunting in Dorset, view our itinerary for fossil hunting in Charmouth or find out more about a guided walk with Jurassic Coast Guides. Charmouth Beach is popular with families thanks to its wide expanse of sand, split into two separate sections by the River Char. At low tide in the warm summer months, the water is busy with people paddling in the shallows and exploring the rock pools that are revealed.
