White Nothe

White Nothe is a chalk headland between Ringstead Bay and Durdle Door on the Jurassic Coast. The area is reached from the Ringstead Bay National Trust car park on the hilltop, which is just 6 miles from our Sandyholme Holiday Park.

From the car park, it is a 1.5 mile walk east along the clifftop past Burning Cliff, named so due to an underground fire that smouldered for several years from 1826, due to its composition of oil shale and iron pyorites. There are incredible panoramic views from this location and rather off the beaten track and quiet considering its beauty. This is a great place to take a walk, enjoy a picnic or fly a kite. There are steep and ancient smuggler’s paths leading down to clear, safe waters for bathing.

If you walk all the way along to White Nothe, you can enjoy great views east along the coast towards Bat’s Head, Durdle Door and beyond towards Lulworth Cove.
