The Walled Garden at Moreton is a beautiful five-acre landscaped formal garden. Moreton has become well-known because of its association with T. E. Lawrence, also known as Lawrence of Arabia.  T. E. Lawrence lived near to Moreton when he served at Bovington Camp and was later buried in Moreton Church Yard.  Every year thousands of visitors are drawn to Moreton to visit his grave, which backs onto The Walled Garden.  Many visitors also visit the village to see the Church’s unique engraved glass windows by poet and artist Sir Laurence Whistler.

The Walled Garden re-opened to the public in May 2015, and has undergone significant replanting and restoration since then.  A wide variety of perennial plants sit in the boarders, which have been styled in original Georgian and Victorian designs.

The gardens feature different themes including a Chilean arboretum, winter borders, an acer walk and a rose garden. There is a farm and family area with a few farm animals and habitats for wildlife and space for families to play and have a picnic.

The Dovecote cafe serves breakfasts, brunches, lunch, hot drinks and cakes. Smaller portions are available for children and water for dogs. Afternoon and cream teas are available. Roast dinners are available on Sundays in the winter months. ing coffee, cake, afternoon tea, breakfast or lunch.

The plant shop has roses, seasonal plants, herbaceous, bedding, bulbs, alpines, climbers, trees and a variety of compost. You can also find ornamental pots and a small selection of garden tools. The gift shop sells items from local shops such as Burts Bees, Moores Biscuits, Dorset Tea, Orange Tree Toys, Little Toller books and Caroline Tucker & Watkin Art greetings cards.
