Activities don’t have to cost the earth when there are plenty of free things to do in Dorset. During the spring we love nothing more than tackling scenic hikes along the coast, enjoying a picnic and breathing in the fresh air.
We know the weather can be unpredictable during the early part of the year, but don’t let it put a dampener on your stay. There are a host of wet weather activities on offer across the county, with plenty of things to suit children, teenagers and couples!
Wildlife & Nature
Spring is one of the best times of year to holiday in Dorset if you have an interest in plants and nature. In early April wildlife starts to emerge from hibernation and new animals are born in the surrounding farms. Many of our holiday parks have a nature trail for guests to follow, where you can take in the beautiful flora and fauna and try and catch a glimpse of birds, butterflies, bees, hedgehog and deer. Some of our parks even have sheep, alpacas and ducklings to see at this time of year!
Nearby there are some fantastic walks where you can photograph the bluebells and other woodland flowers. For visitors with young children, we highly recommend a trip to Kingston Maurward during lambing season and Abbotsbury Swannery to see the cygnets hatch.
Easter breaks in Dorset
