The Swanage Railway is a picture postcard branch line to the seaside. Steam trains run for 6 miles, weaving their way through the beautiful Purbeck countryside, past the magnificent ruins of Corfe Castle, the charming station of Harmans Cross to the sandy beach of Swanage; the eastern gateaway to the Jurassic Coast. The picturesque stations provide an ideal starting point to explore the railway and the surrounding area on foot or by bicycle.
With museums, picnic areas, refreshments and souvenirs, there is a lot to see and do during your visit. There are steam and diesel galas, family events, regular dining and sunday lunch experiences and other themed events. You can even try a one-hour footplate taster experience and drive and fire your own steam train.
Swanage Railway makes a very special day out.
