Pilsdon Pen
Pilsdon Pen is an iron-age hill fort (one of 20 in Dorset) and the second highest point in Dorset at 277 metres above sea level. There is a small car parking area with steps and a footpath to the top. The views are spectacular across the Marshwood Vale and across to the sea, all the way down to the Isle of Portland. On a clear day, you can even see Dartmoor, Exmoor and the Quantock Hills.
Two bronze age burial mounds and flint tools over 10,000 years old that were found on the hill, show that it was used long before the hill fort was created. The hill is approximately 4.5 miles from the lovely town of Beaminster and just a few miles from our Bridport-based holiday parks. There is plenty of open space for dog walks, just please be aware of livestock grazing.
