The first in a series of blogs where we speak to holiday home owners to find out why they chose holiday home ownership, what they like about it and what they like about the area!

What are your first names and where do you call home?

John and Jennie Willis, our home is Steeple Ashton, Wiltshire.

How long have you been Holiday Home Owners with West Dorset Leisure Holidays?

Since September 2023.

Which Holiday Home do you own and what do you like about it?

Regal Harlington. We love the size and layout. We also like the patio doors and windows either side that lead onto the wraparound deck, this means there’s a lot of light in the lounge/diner.

How often do you visit your Holiday Home?

We got the keys on 27th September and have visited every weekend since.

How easy was the process of purchasing your Holiday Home?

Very easy. There was a little hold-up sorting out who was paying for some of the repairs that needed doing, but it was soon sorted out.

Which Holiday Park do you own your Holiday Home on and what factors led to you choosing that Holiday Park?

Our holiday home is at Golden Cap Holiday Park. We chose it because of the proximity to the sea, the lovely Anchor Inn, the well stocked shop and the fact that it’s not a huge holiday park. Plus we have friends who own a holiday home 2 doors away from ours.

What are the top 3 things you enjoy about Holiday Home Ownership?

Not far to drive from home to be by the sea. Everything we like/want is in our holiday home. Lock up and go, then when we return everything is in place and is ours.

What are the top 3 things you enjoy about the local area?

The beach, the countryside and Bridport.

Where are your favourite places to places to eat / beaches / attractions / things to do?

We’re still exploring so can’t answer all the question, but so far we’ve had a delicious dinner at the Anchor Inn at Seatown, we also love Bridport especially on market days, plus The Olive Tree in Bridport serves an excellent meal. We also like Symondsbury, Lyme Regis and Sidmouth. Lastly we love walking, so look forward to exploring the coastal path and other walks in the area.

What tips / recommendations would you make to anyone thinking about becoming Holiday Home Owners?

Have a good look around. View different caravans, have a wish list of what you would like. It’s an expensive investment, but a great lifestyle investment, so it needs to be right.
