Symondsbury Estate is set in the beautiful Dorset countryside, but within a few miles of the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site with unspoilt beaches and fabulous coastal walks. Symondsbury village is a hidden gem with cottages, a school and a local pub. The Estate, consisting of 1,500 acres of farmland and woodland, has been owned by the Colfox family for over 100 years.
Manor Yard is located in the heart of Symondsbury village and is a shopping treat for locals and visitors alike. There is a village shop, local businesses and independent shops. Symondsbury Store offers a wide range of local food and drink including local produce, fresh bread, pastries and cheese, as well as local beer, wine, gin and gifts.
If shopping isn’t your thing, you can visit Symondsbury Kitchen, which is a perfect place to dwell for a morning or afternoon taking in the relaxed country ambience. Serving breakfast, lunch, sunday lunch and afternoon tea, the cafe pride themselves on using home-grown and local seasonal ingredients and you can enjoy the outside seating.
Meet the animals, including sheep, pygmy goats and pigs at the Animal Viewing Area or enjoy the 8km trail that takes you round the most beautiful and historic areas of the Estate. Bikes are available to hire on the Estate at Bridport Cycles. The highlight of visiting Symondsbury Estate, has to be a walk up Colmer’s Hill, one of the most iconic landmarks in West Dorset, offering great views of the surrounding countryside.
There are a range of events throughout the year, such as the Colmer’s Hill Challenge, a Country Fair and a Christmas Market. Dogs are welcome at Symondsbury Estate, there is free wifi and plenty of free parking. It’s family friendly, accessible for wheelchairs, open 7 days a week and is located just a short drive from Highlands End, Golden Cap and Graston Copse Holiday Parks.
