A Lifetime of Memories at Eype – Celebrating 60 Years of Love and Holidays
At West Dorset Leisure Holidays, we’re incredibly proud to offer more than just a place to stay – we provide the backdrop to life’s most treasured moments. Many of our guests return year after year, generation after generation, creating lasting memories that span decades. Few stories capture this more beautifully than that of Peter and Christine Felton, who recently celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary at Highlands End – the very place where their honeymoon began back in 1965.
They stayed with their whole family to celebrate, booking 2 of our 3 bedroom Lodges for a week. Here’s what they had to say:
“It has changed significantly since that time [1965], but the beauty and peacefulness remains, and it was a wonderful place for our honeymoon, with the beach, the hills and for us to be made very welcome. The cows walked past our caravan morning and evening on their way to milking.
The whole family have holidays at Eype in their blood, and our great grandson, now 18, learnt to swim in the pool and to ride his first balance bike on the banks between the camping bays. He still loves returning there.”
Peter’s connection with Highlands End stretches even further back, to 1955 when he first visited with his parents and was welcomed by the park’s previous owners who ran Highlands End primarily as a farm. Today, multiple generations on, the Felton family continue to enjoy everything Eype and Highlands End have to offer, from stunning views to cherished traditions. We’re honoured to have played a part in their journey and look forward to welcoming them, and their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and all the generations still to come, back for more unforgettable moments.
After meeting with them on one of their previous trips to discuss their story, Group Manager James said “When I left Mr and Mrs Felton and returned to a mountain of paperwork, their happy memories gave me a burst of enthusiasm and reminded me that the paperwork is all very worthwhile.”
You can read more about their wonderful story below, as we’ve featured them on our blog before.
