Graston Copse Accessibility Statement
Graston Copse is a small Holiday Park located on the edge of the village of Burton Bradstock. The Park has privately owned Holiday Homes and pitches for touring and camping.
At West Dorset Leisure Holidays we have done our best to make our Parks as accessible as possible, taking into account a wide range of disabilities to our consideration. We have gathered as much information as we can on the page below, however if there are any questions you have, our friendly Bookings Team are always happy to help. We recommend that if you have a disability concern, to get in touch with us before booking, so we can advise you to the best of our knowledge. It’s also the best way to book a specific Lodge or Caravan if, for example, you need one with fewer steps.

Electric Touring & Camping Pitches
- There are 2 types of pitches with electric hook-up on the Park, and dogs are allowed with all touring and camping bookings.
- The pitches are all on level ground, which can get wet and boggy in times of extreme rain.
- We do not allocate or book specific pitches, instead guests choose from available pitches on their arrival.
- If you need to be close to a facility block, it may be possible for us to reserve you a pitch nearby if you let us know in advance of your arrival, however this is not guaranteed and may depend on the time of year you visit and how busy we are.
- The gravel pitches are closest to the facility block and are around 100m away.
- The grass pitches are further away from the facility block and can be between 150m to 300m from the facilities.
- To minimise light pollution, there is limited lighting in this area of the Park and you may need a torch for outside at night.
- It is possible to park one car on the grass next to each pitch. Additional vehicles may be permitted but will not be able to be parked next to your pitch.
- On gravel pitches, awnings must be placed on the gravel area to allow adequate space between pitches for fire regulations.
Non-Electric Camping Meadow
- The Meadow is a back-to-basics camping field with no electricity or lighting.
- The field is flat but the ground may be uneven in places.
- Pitches are not marked out and guests can camp wherever they like, provided they are at least 3m from their neighbours.
- You may be pitched between 100m and 200m from the facility block.
Facility Block
- There is one facility block for use by all guests on the Park, located on the edge of the Caravan area.
- There are separate male and female toilet and shower areas, as well as a unisex area.
- The men’s area has two small steps into the door and contains 4 toilet cubicles and 2 showers as well as sinks.
- The women’s area has just a small lip into the door and contains 6 toilet cubicles and 2 shower cubicles as well as sinks.
- The unisex area has a small step into the door and contains a semi-accessible toilet and shower room with baby change, and 2 shower cubicles with sinks and bench seating.
- All showers do have a small lip/step to get into.
- In this area you will also find outdoor washing up sinks, a refuse and recycling area, a small laundry room (with a small lip through the door), a motorhome service point and a freezer for ice blocks.
Privately Owned Holiday Homes
- When purchasing a Holiday Home, there are 3 options – you can either buy a new or a pre-owned Holiday Home that’s already sited and connected on a pitch, or you can choose a vacant pitch and we can order your preferred model to be sited there.
- All Holiday Homes will be able to have a decking, but the size, shape and location will depend on the pitch you choose.
- All pre-owned and some new Holiday Homes will come with deckings and steps constructed. The number of steps will vary considerably by pitch and may be between 1 and 7 steps.
- Depending on the pitch and location, it may be possible to get the steps changed for an access ramp, though this may cost more and/or limit the size of your decking.
- If you are choosing to order a new model for a vacant pitch, you will be able choose one with a layout and space to suit your requirements. Our Sales Team can advise you on models which may suit your needs.
- All owners park on shared hard-standing parking spaces which are not allocated.
- Paths to Holiday Homes do not come as standard, if you wish to construct one you must speak to the Park Team first.
- You will be responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of your Holiday Home, decking and the grass immediately surrounding you. We can offer help with these services by agreeing on a maintenance programme for a set fee. For more information, please contact our Sales Team.
Park Reception & Shop
- The Park Reception & Shop is located at the entrance of the Park, by the entry barrier.
- Should you need to park a car outside the Reception, this may be possible for short periods, however you must take care not to block either of the barriers as this may prevent vehicles from entering or leaving the Park.
- Access is via 4 steps, or a ramp, both with hand rail, and the entry door is wide enough for wheelchairs.
- Opening hours vary and will be displayed in a poster in the window, alongside a phone number to call if you need assistance.
- The shop stocks a small selection of essentials, including toiletries, camping essentials and basic cupboard foods.
- There is a fuel station in the village with a larger shop (1 mile away) and in Bridport, you’ll find supermarkets including Morrisons (3.2 miles), Waitrose (4.4 miles), Co-op (4.1 miles) and Lidl (4.2 miles). A range of supermarkets can deliver to the Park, and we ask that guests meet deliveries at the Park entrance wherever possible.
Information Pod
- The Information Pod is located next to the Gravel Pitches.
- The Pod is situated on gravel and does have a step up to the decking, but no lip through the doorway.
- In the Pod, you’ll find information about local attractions, as well as some toys and games to borrow and a freezer for ice blocks.
Roads & Paths
- There is an ANPR barrier at the entrance of the Park and another one to exit. All vehicles entering the Park will need to go through the barriers.
- There is a pedestrian path around the side of the barrier.
- There is a 10mph speed limit for safety and there are speed bumps at regular intervals, these are clearly marked and gentle.
- A one way system for vehicles and pedestrians operates in the central area of the Park.
- The park is mostly flat.
- The roads around the Park are mostly tarmac, however some in the touring & camping area and by the Glamping Pods are made of tightly packed gravel.
- The River Bride runs along one edge of the Park, please be aware there is no fence on the river bank.
- The footpaths around the Park, including the woodland walk and riverside path are flat but may be uneven in places.
- The Nature Trail is a 3.4 mile walk from the park that takes in the woodland copse & picnic area, a riverside walk into the village of Burton Bradstock and a nature walk at nearby Larkfield Holiday Park before looping back to the park. The section in the dog exercising area at Larkfield is hilly, but this is an isolated section so can be skipped.
- Burton Bradstock can be walked to via road or footpath and both take around 15 minutes.
Assistance Dogs
- There is no charge for registered assistance dogs, however we may ask for proof of their status, such as their ID book.
- Assistance dogs are expected to wear an identifiable jacket/harness at all times when in public and their behaviour must reflect that they are highly trained.
- All touring and camping pitches are dog friendly.
- Ordinarily there is a maximum of 3 dogs per booking, though assistance dogs are not counted towards this limit.
- Assistance dogs are welcome in all park buildings.
- There is a Dog Exercising Meadow next to the Non-Electric Camping Meadow. The ground is flat but may be uneven. There are benches with this area.
- Dog bins are provided at key locations on the Park.
Visual & Hearing Impairments
- Speed bumps in the roads are clearly marked with yellow paint.
- Important signage is high contrast (bold white text on dark blue background) and a clear sans-serif font.
- To save energy and prevent light pollution, outdoor lighting at night is kept to a minimum. Touring & camping guests may wish to bring torches to get to the facility blocks.
- The colour scheme inside buildings has been chosen to provide good contrast between walls, floors and doorways.
- There is adequate lighting in public spaces to allow for lip reading.
- Digital Park maps on our website and app and emailed to you can be scaled up and zoomed in. There is a large map on the side of the Facility Block.
- Our Park Map uses colours to differentiate between accommodation and pitch types. If you struggle to read the map, you can get in touch with our Bookings Team in advance of your arrival, or speak to a member of the Park Team when you arrive, and they will be happy to explain where you need to go.
Medical Needs
- In the event of an accident or medical emergency, our Team will endeavour to assist wherever they can. This may be by performing basic first aid, calling the emergency services or clearing the area and ensuring everybody’s safety.
- Our Team can access first aid kits located at Reception, next to the Facility Block and in some of our on-park vehicles.
- There is a defibrillator located at the Park Reception.
- Basic pharmaceutical supplies are sold in the shop including plasters and painkillers.
- There are a number of pharmacies in Bridport, as well as supermarkets, which will have a wider selection of medicines and supplies than we are able to stock on the Park.

- The nearest 24 hour Accident & Emergency Departments are at Dorchester Hospital (15 miles away) or Yeovil Hospital (25 miles away).

- Our check-in process can be done in person via a visit to the Reception, or can be done contactless via an online check-in to log your arrival if this is preferred.
- We do not have the option to book a specific touring & camping pitch, as all pitches are selected based on what is vacant on the time of your arrival.
- Our Team recognise the sunflower lanyard scheme for hidden disabilities and will do their best to make reasonable accommodations for individuals who may need extra time, space or help doing certain things.
Team Training
- Our Team are not trained with knowledge of any specific disabilities, but will do whatever they can to assist with your stay and be patient.
- Please make us aware of any additional needs at the point of booking, our Bookings Team will have the knowledge to help you book the most suitable accommodation and will not assume what you can or cannot do.
- Our Park Wardens are always on call for emergencies, should they be needed.
Use of Technology
- We are always trying to implement technology to make the lives of our customers easier, but we appreciate that not all customers have access to or experience using some forms of technology.
