The Ollerod
This place is usually open now.
The Ollerod is a magical Dorset country house in the charming town of Beaminster. Dating from the 14th Century, the Ollerod restaurant is the product of generations of history passing through its doors. Originally a clergy house, it now has its own unique style. ‘Ollerod’ is the old Dorset dialect, from the times of Thomas Hardy, for the Cowslip.
Situated in the picturesque town of Beaminster, which borders 3 counties (Dorset, Devon & Somerset), The Ollerod is the perfect place to explore an incredibly beautiful, and untouched, part of England. Blessed with some of Britain’s finest farmers, growers & fishermen on their doorstep, the kitchen delights in sourcing the best produce from the surrounding areas, as well as from their own garden where they grow veggies and herbs.
The menu is always evolving and new dishes are introduced as the seasons change. Along with great food and wine, the bar is the heart of The Ollerod life. Guests can relax and enjoy a cocktail, a cup of tea or a lovely glass of wine in the bar or the snug, which is home to a huge open fire that roars in the colder months! There is a beautiful terrace and garden, which make the perfect spot for a cocktail and a snack, or a meal, when the sun is shining.
“Spaces charmingly breathe into the architecture, whether it’s sloping ceilings, creaking floors or awkward corners, and generally retain a hint of history.”
