What is the beach like at West Bay?

There are 2 main beaches at West Bay – East Beach (to the east of the harbour) and West Beach (to the west). Both beaches are very picturesque and great for a family day out.

East beach is flanked by dramatic sandstone cliffs that look golden when they are illuminated by the sun. The beach has a steep shingle bank and a life guard service during the peak season.

West beach has slightly larger pebbles, though these do turn to shingle as you get closer to the waters edge. This beach is not patrolled by lifeguards.

There is a third, smaller beach next to West Beach. It is separated by a rocky groyne.

All 3 beaches are dog friendly between 1st October and 30th April. There are some restrictions in place outside of this time.
