Fire Engine L343 CEL
I mentioned in my blog a couple of days ago about a Fire Engine which was in line for a Guinness World Record after travelling around the world. I woke up in the night and it suddenly struck me that I recognised the registration number of the fire engine – L343 CEL – and I have checked my old photographs today and it started life at Bridport, my old Station.
It is the fire engine on the left in the photograph and I can remember it arriving ‘new’ in the early 1990s – we were all very proud of one of the first 4 wheel drive fire appliances. One of the first incidents we attend was the lorry crash in Chideock which demolished the house next door to the Clock Inn. The old Fire Station closed in 1996 when the new Station opened in Sea Road – it s now the Library.
After a busy day with the Accountants, I went along to a very good event at Eype Church Centre of the Arts where the author Robert Radcliffe was interviewed by Paul Attenbury about his career and new novel – Dambuster. Have a look at the website if you are interested in events coming up.
Our bar turned into a very romantic venue this evening when the electricity went off for an hour and our team quickly adapted with candles on each table – we had to stop cooking, but our customers were happy when they realised the beer pumps still worked!!!
