Exploring the Duck Pond at Sandyholme Holiday Park
The pond at Sandyholme Holiday Park has always been popular with visitors who love to watch the different ducks, geese and other birds swimming and building nests. Sandyholme has a number of resident ducks including Call Ducks, New Zealand Scaup and White Muscovy Ducks, as well as many regular visiting birds who stop by at different points during the year.
In preparation for the next holiday season, we have designed a sign for the edge of the pond, to help people learn a little about each bird and try to identify them.
Next to the duck pond, you’ll find our two bug hotels, specifically designed to provide shelter for a variety of insects. We’ve also designed a number of areas on the park to be bee and butterfly friendly, with lots of wildflowers growing freely. These are things we do across all 5 of our parks as part of our ongoing pledge to sustainability.
You can see the duck pond and our bug hotels if you walk our Sandyholme Nature Trail. Please do not feed the ducks.
We love to see photos of your holidays, so share them using the hashtag #WDLH
