Christmas festivities in Bridport
Last night Bridport town centre was a Christmas haven, buzzing with late night shopping. Christmas trees lined the street shops and Bridport Town Hall Clock was dressed in fairy lights. It was freezing cold but there were plenty of hot refreshments. The Rotary Club were selling burgers and there were other stalls selling hot cider and mulled wine. Christmas market stalls lined the streets and the United Church on East Street had open doors with carol singers. Inside the church were over 30 Christmas trees, each one uniquely decorated and sponsored by a charity including Weldmar Hospicecare or a local business. There was plenty of entertainment for children with a bouncy castle, merry go round and most importantly the Santa’s Grotto. A stage area had been set up outside Bridport Arts Centre and there were more carol singers and folk bands. Leakers Bakery was giving away free mince pies and the local shops all stayed open until 9pm. It was a very festive night and I am sure most that went now have the Christmas feeling.
