Can you walk from West Bay to Golden Cap?
Yes, it is possible to walk from West Bay to Golden Cap. The route is approximately 4 miles and follows the famed South West Coast Path.
The walk is suitable for families with older children and is moderately challenging, with two very steep hills to contend with. A good level of fitness and mobility is required.
You’ll be treated to magnificent views along the Jurassic Coast for the duration of the walk. First you’ll scale Thorncombe Beacon, before tackling Golden Cap – the highest peak on the South Coast. From the elevated position you can see the Isle of Portland and Dartmoor in the distance on a clear day.
Along the way you’ll pass Highlands End Holiday Park and Golden Cap Holiday Park and experience a variety of scenery, including woodland and farmland. The walk from West Bay to Golden Cap is spectacular in the Spring when the forest is carpeted in bluebells.
The route is not suitable for pushchairs.
