Good week for raising money for charity
Looking back over the last week the key stories must be our role in three very successful charity events. Bridport Rotary who meet weekly on the park held a casino evening and raised over £700 for the stroke unit at Dorchester Hospital and a Casino Royale Charity Ball organised by a local family and friends raised £2,850 for CLIC Sargent.
The third annual event was one that has gradually become a key date in our diary. Over 15 years ago, I was approached by a local group of ladies who raise money for Cancer Research and the idea was to take over our kitchen to cook and serve homemade curries to raise money. The annual lunch has become very successful and this year 120 people attended and raised £2,100. Members of our staff become involved as required, but the volunteers undertake all the cooking and preparation. It is a pleasure to be a part of such a successful idea to raise funds for a charity which is important to us.
