An Award-Winning Photographer on the WDLH Team!
James Loveridge, who has been part of the Marketing Team at West Dorset Leisure Holidays for over 10 years, was recently announced as the South West Coast Path‘s Photographer Of The Year for 2023. His photo of waves crashing over The Cobb at Lyme Regis beat over 1500 entries from points all along the 630 mile path.
Taken with a drone during a brief still period in November’s Storm Ciaran, the dramatic shot wowed judges who said the image was impressive in its “beauty and in it its message” and “clearly shows the force of nature”. Previously, James has won the Climate Change category in the competition, and was thrilled to win the overall award this time.
James recently caught up with ITV news to chat about how he got the shot. You can watch the 9 minute interview here.
Many of the photos on our website were taken by James, and there’s a number displayed around our parks, in accommodation and facility blocks.
We’ve recently created a new display at Highlands End Leisure Club of 30 incredible aluminium prints. They’re available to buy and take away, with prices starting from just ÂŁ80. Or, if there’s a specific photo of his that you love, you can also order prints direct from James himself via his website.
At work, James has recently been working on an exciting new project – Dorset Foot Golf! The new 18 hole course replaces the old Pitch ‘n’ Putt, and offers an exciting family-friendly activity that’s proving to be popular already.
Other things he’s been up to include creating partnerships with local businesses to offer exclusive discounts to our holiday guests and improving the guest experience with our use of Bright Park, a park management tool that allows us to improve the check-in process, communication with guests and the efficiency of our housekeeping and maintenance teams.
