Alpacas born at Highlands End!

Last week was an exciting one, as we welcomed not one, not two, but three new cria (the word for baby alpacas) to the herd at Highlands End. All the mums did spectacularly and delivered their babies smoothly without needing any help or assistance from us. It was fantastic to watch the other girls rally round the new little ones, watching over them and bonding immediately.

The little white one (a girl) was born on Tuesday the 11th, the little black one (a boy) was born on Friday the 14th and the light brown one (another girl) was born on Saturday the 15th! They’re currently in a private field with their mums, so we can watch over them closely.

Don’t worry, there’s also a small group out the front of the park that our guests can say hello to, including Saffie and Princess, our two friendliest girls.

We’re excited to be offering our Facebook followers and those on our mailing list the opportunity to vote for the name of the first cria!

Our alpacas are named with specific themes, and this little one’s Mum is called Gin, so we’d like all her children to be named something that relates to Gin! Last year her daughter was named Saffie (short for Bombay Sapphire).

We’ve got three potential names in mind for this gorgeous little girl and we need your help choosing!

  • Conker (a delicious gin produced in Dorset)
  • Juniper (a key ingredient in gin production)
  • Fizz (the best way to serve gin!)

Head over to our Facebook page to vote for your favourite name!

The week before last, on the 7th, we celebrated Saffie’s first birthday. She was the first alpaca born here on the farm this time last year and she has grown into the cuddliest little diva. Always the first to come over to the fence and say hello, demanding head scratches and giving the best kisses, we have fallen in love with her over the past year.

We can’t wait to see the personalities of our new babies develop!

A 5 star holiday experience with excellent facilities, incredible views and probably one of the best locations anywhere in the UK
