A blog from Martin’s Bar & Restaurant

3 October 2018Holiday Park News

What a Summer!!

We are so pleased to have seen so many new faces, and our favourite regulars return to Martins Bar and Restaurant this summer.  Busier than ever – and with some of the best sunshine any of us can remember – we’ve had a wonderful time welcoming guests from near and far.

Great Times!

Have we had some fun this summer or what!?!  Our Silent Disco had even the most reluctant dancefloor attendee throwing some shapes (or at least tapping their toes!) and we’ve had the best feedback about the night – so watch this space for a further date!  Magic Alex – well what can we say – you’d want her at any party wouldn’t you – with balloon animals, jokes, magic shows and just general good fun – and it wasn’t just the children that enjoyed the balloons – our very own Denise got her own models to take home!!

Our Jackpot is again at £500 for our ‘Crack The Code’ game – anyone over 18 playing the quiz has the chance to win the pot – but you gotta be in it to win it!!!! Quiz from 7.30pm every Wednesday!  All other events are featured on our website.

Next year we’re planning some new ideas and having some new faces join us to keep you entertained – we’re talking to animal shows, dinosaur puppeteers and previously unfeatured musicians….. maybe a Tribute Night or two in our quieter periods….. exciting times ahead!

Best Sellers

As you all know by now we have a great brigade of chefs working tirelessly from 9am until late every day preparing fresh menu choices using local suppliers.  Our biggest seller?…… Good old Fish and Chips – with fish sourced from the local area and our own beer batter using ale from Palmers Brewery – just a mile from our front door!  Perfect!

So what’s next?  A fun themed menu for the Halloween period, alongside our best sellers and our chef specials – the log burner lit in the restaurant and the sports on TV in the Sports Bar area – a perfect place to be as the weather starts to turn!  Hot chocolates-at-the-ready!

As we have now hit September plans are afoot for our 2019 menus – a few favourites and a few new dishes to feature – our Head Chef, Stephane, is French Canadian so we’re looking forward to seeing what he suggests!

Functions, Events and …. Yep….Christmas!!!

What a Winter it’s going to be!  We are already looking to host our busiest November with Balls, Gala Dinners and Meetings. Did you know when we are closed as a holiday park we can offer our venue for large private events?  With seating for over 300 guests, room for dancefloors and a stunning themed bar – do you book events?  Why not find out a bit more…..?!!  If you are running a charitable event we may be able to offer the venue FOR FREE!!!!

December is also shaping up to be our best ever with Christmas Parties every day and our now locally-famous Party Nights where a variety of different businesses and social groups join us to enjoy a delicious 3 course meal and boogie into the small hours!! We still have limited availability to join us on some nights – if you’re local and wish to join us we would love to see you!

Book your event by calling Tess, Zoe or Denise on 01308 426919 or emailing barmanager@wdlh.co.uk.

Little Fire Station Soft Play

Hundreds and hundreds of under 6’s have joined us since Easter – and we’ve loved seeing each and every one of them!  We’ve had some giggles as we’ve watched them enjoy the fun and look forward to seeing many more over the winter (Mums don’t forget we serve COSTA coffee and cakes!!).

Highlands End Leisure Club

Our lovely pool has had a busy summer too – and has an exciting period coming up!

Hayley who has worked for us for many years has decided to leave us to fulfil a caring role in a local family – we are all very sad to see her go!  Penny, Harrison and Chris remain with us into the winter and we welcome Liam onto the team from the bar.

Over the winter the Leisure Club Reception and Mens changing rooms are due for a really lovely facelift – we can’t wait for you to see the improvements.  Our timetable will be amended slightly too to enable us to offer additional activities post 7pm to best use this wonderful facility!  Any suggestions for classes or activities?  Let us know!  Email me on Tess@wdlh.co.uk – I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Winter Opening

Don’t forget our hours are amended over the winter – and we are closed for a period of late Dec through to mid January.  Keep an eye on our website for times.

Golden Cap is a little bit of heaven. The views are awesome, right next to the sea. It's all relaxed and low key just how we like it.

  • 5 out of 5 isn't enough!

This is simply our favorite touring park along the south coast. The location couldn't be better with views to die for and an abundance of fresh sea air. The park is spic and span and extremely well kept with very friendly staff.

  • Best holiday ever!

This is by far the best Holiday Park I have been to. The views are breath taking with easy access to the beach and nice coastal walks to West Bay. If you're looking for a relaxing holiday in a stunning location, then this is the place to come.

  • Fantastic Park

10 out of 10 is not enough for this Holiday Park. We have been here 3 times and we love it more and more every time. The park has all you need, with some pitches overlooking the sea and a great restaurant.

  • Lovely tranquil campsite

The location was great as we could easily walk to the village or local beaches through the beautiful countryside. I would recommend this campsite to families for a peaceful and safe stay.
