27 years of visits to our favourite place!
As we approach the 50th anniversary of Highlands End Holiday Park, we are delighted to hear from guests and holiday home owners that have been visiting the park and making memories for many years! We spoke to Felicity Wills who has been visiting with friends and children every summer since 1994!
How long have you been visiting Highlands End Holiday Park?
This year is our 27th year visiting Highlands End and we come every summer for one week!
What inspired your first visit?
A long summer holiday stretched ahead so we planned a mum’s and kid’s caravan trip to keep the children occupied. We found Highlands End in a caravan brochure and it was highly recommended back in 1994. One year there were 9 mums and 21 children! Three of us still come every year with some of our 9 children.
What are your favourite memories from visiting the park?
Swimming in the sea, walking up Thorncombe Beacon and Colmer’s Hill, afternoon tea at Downhouse Farm, lunch at Rachel’s in West Bay, drinking and dancing at Martin’s Bar & Restaurant, going swimming at Highlands End Leisure Club, chatting, having BBQs, mackerel fishing and crabbing at West Bay and playing tennis. We love being outside all day long and play games in the caravan in the evenings.
How has the park changed over the years?
Every year the park has improved in some way. The caravans are much warmer and better equipped. The adventure playground is more adventurous and Martin’s Bar is bigger and open longer hours.
How have the children enjoyed growing up visiting Highlands End?
Our children LOVE Highlands End. They were toddlers when we started coming and they are all adults now but still come on holiday with us because they love Highlands End so much. One of the kids works for TikTok and all of the team were asked to make a montage of their happy place – needless to say, all his photos were of Highlands End.
What are your favourite places to visit in the local area?
West Bay, Thorncombe Beacon, Bridport Market, the Electric Palace, Golden Cap, the Ilchester Arms and the rope playground at West Bay. We don’t go far, it’s just great to walk and spend time together.
